The reason that was ok is due to the fact the WCC does not participate in FBS football. This is indeed a NCAA rule for you can not reside in a conference and play sports in another conference that host that sport. If that were the case then the SEC would have every team possible as well as the BigTen in football with their Olympic sports staying put in their conference. Just think the SEC would go after NC State, and VT with them staying amongst the ACC in everything but football as would have the BigTen with Rutgers and Maryland. This is why the NCAA has this rule for if they didn't what would stop these schools as well as conferences making these moves.

I would like to see the NCAA make exemption of the rule for teams moving from one conference to another, but I doubt they do that.

Maybe Eastern & Western 12. Kind of sounds like a railroad.

With all the advantages of being in a money conference, I would guess it would be safe to say Cuse had a top 64 football class right?

If you're the Aresco League schools, you don't want Louisville to play FB in the Aresco League in 2013, right? The league gets a BCS autobid for the 2013 season. Louisville ought to have a really good FB team in 2013. The Aresco Leaguers don't want Louisville to win their BCS autobid; they want one of their own to get that resume-boost to help the league moving forward.

The problem, of course, is that L'ville can't join the ACC for FB in 2013 because the ACC won't want 15 FB teams for this year. 16 hoops teams (including both L'ville and ND) could be accommodated, but not 15 FB teams.

The ACC may not "want" 15 FB teams but they would be willing (my opinion) to help Lou out of a bind.

Not the WCC, the WAC. The conference with Idaho and New Mexico State. The one that had Kent Benson as commissioner. They were ready to welcome Boise State's Olympic sports, before the FBS WAC fell apart.

Just curious what others think about this.

Move the other sports to the ACC this year and go indy in football for 2013?

I hope that's just what Blauds likes and not a name they're actually considering because that's worse than Conference USA.

Southwest Conference:

South: Rice and SMU to get the rights to the name plus Houston, Tulane, USF, and UCF.

North: UConn, Cinn, Memphis, Temple, Navy, ECU.

UMass and Marshall replace UConn and Cinn when they leave.

What's the bind? UL doesn't feel like paying an increased exit fee to leave early? UL is too good to play one season with its historical rivals?

Forgive us if we don't excited at the prospect of playing Memphis, Temple, Houston, UCF, and UConn. It's hard to get motivated with that kind of a schedule.

The exit fee isn't the issue here. The issue is that the ACC has already hammered out its entire 2013 football schedule and adding a member would create uneven divisions and force them to start the schedule over from scratch, unless of course Maryland's lawsuit gets resolved in which case we'd slide into their spot and inherit their schedule.

The WAC is the conference they ( Boise ) left for the MWC, and the WCC ( West Coast Conference ) that currently has Gonzoga, Pepperdine, BYU, Saint Mary's, and others was the conference that was going to let them place their olympic sports in while playing football in the Big East as to was SanDiego State. If I am wrong I apologize but I don't think I am here, but at this time it is really moot for the NCAA is not going to help anyone out here, and they do have a rule that will not allow this move.

I doubt the Maryland case gets settled early, unless the ACC drops their exit fee. There's no way Maryland pays the entire $50 million, and the courts won't force them to do so...

Once that case gets settled - in Maryland's favor - it's open season on the ACC...

So you can't wait a year, so the NCAA should do your fanbase a favor and step in to help? Boo ******* hoo.

RE: C7 Split done by Wednesday; ND to ACC Early
As a U of L fan, I can live with the purgatory of next season ...

One season of playing new big east schools in football with a BCS bid to the winner is fine with me. I'd love one more shot at a Sugar Bowl trip, and that goes away forever in 2014 as Big XII and SEC only will play there. Hope we take care of business, and the stars align for that. I think it's highly possible, but Cincy, Rutgers, Central Florida, and Willie Taggart at South Florida won't lay down for us. Ultimately, I like our chances with Bridgewater leading the way, and our team is finally coming of age, with the bulk of starters being juniors/rs sophomores, and sophomores. Our first season in the ACC should be our best overall team, even sans Bridgewater.

SO ... count me as one that doesn't mind at ALL playing one more football season in whatever is left of the Big East.

The hoops season would be weird given there is no TV deal (at least I think that's the situation) -- but not all that bad from a competition standpoint ...

Louisville
UConn
Cincy
Temple
Memphis

... is a decent core for hoops.

Rutgers, South Florida, Central Florida, Houston, SMU ... who am I missing?? ...

... fills it out ok.

It's the lack of TV deal for hoops that makes this whole thing totally funky. And TV money is what is tearing leagues apart. So we'll see what actually happens.

I am more excited about next year's basketball conference if there isa 10 team league with a double round robin than I would be with an 18 team league.

I would love one last chance to play Louisville twice a year. Plus home games against Memphis, UConn, and Temple.

There is no such NCAA rule. The individual conferences typically have rules that do not allow it. The NCAA doesn't care. Talks were held regarding letting Boise and SDSU play olympic sports in the MW while playing football in the BE. The MW said no--it had nothing to do with the NCAA. It's a MW rule.

How is Louisville in a bind? They have a place to play. They have a direct path to a BCS bowl. Not much of bind, especially considering its basically a one year deal.

Actually there is an NCAA rule specifically addressing this.

I really think if Louisville powers to be laid it out correctly to the powers to be amongst the NCAA they might have a shot of someone listening and siding to their plea of amnesty from oblivion of playing a lame duck season for all sports in the yet to be named new conference left overs of the Big East. Just curious what others think about this.
Move the other sports to the ACC this year and go indy in football for 2013?
Or walk off into the sunset with the C7...

Louisville?

Oh quit the ego trip. You're not as good as you think you are. You're not Texas or Ohio St.
