Yes. It is my belief that since we are at 10 Olympic sports playing Universities as of July 1st, at least 2 all sports members will be added. I believe that those 2 will be Georgia Southern University and Appalachain State. That would at least put the SBC back at 10 FB and 12 OLY. members...

Me personally? Id prefer you guys over GSU. From the conference perspective? GSU will be first choice.

Only thing I know is that if you two do get in, we are going to have to lay down ground rules for the name debates. We'll have 2 UL's 2 GSU's and 2 ASU's at the same time.

Not going to be a problem. App is already officially going to "App State." Came out last week in the "strategic plan" that also included moving the track, expanding the stadium again, so on and so forth.

Even from a conference perspective would think App State would be the top choice. Would be hard to imagine otherwise, unless you are speaking location proximity to some of the Gulf Coast schools.

App, real GSU, JMU, UD. Leave NMSU and Idaho in the dust.

It will be interesting to see what happens. Everyone seems to be tight lipped right now.

The easy move is take App and Georgia Southern.

But if the sense is that Big East isn't poised to take Tulsa I wouldn't rule out NMSU, especially football only to get a 9/10 alignment.

Our basketball (who no one outside of BG cares about) will get so much stonger with expansion.

This is according to a poster on the App board. According to this the SunBelt presidents will be presented with 4 possible expansion scenarios on March 9 when they meet:

They are:
1. Do nothing. Do not expand.
2. Expand by 2 adding Appalachian and Ga. Southern
3. Expand by 4 adding Appalachian, Ga. Southern, Idaho and New Mexico St.
4. Expand by 4 adding Appalachian , Ga. Southern, James Madison and Delaware


We have about 2-3 weeks to wait to see if this actually happens.

I think JMU and UD are just wishfull thinking by an AppSt fan. I just do not see any support to add Idaho. (football only).

I see the following scenarios.

1. Do nothing. Do not expand.
2. Expand by 2. Adding two out of the following three, AppSt, Georgia Southern, or New Mexico State.
3. Expand by 4. Adding AppSt, Georgia Southern, New Mexico State, and the fourth being anybodies best guess.

I feel like to be able to get both AppSt and Georgia Southern which the eastern members want, New Mexico State has to be added to get enought western members support. This is just my wild guess.
