Figured it's slow so we needed a topic or two. This will definitely be a big topic at camp time for sure.

McIntosh? Williams? Hare?

From what I saw, McIntosh looks a lot like a young Harnish. Counting against him is that he was a Kill recruit. The staff may want to get the Doeren/Carey guys in there if they can.

Haven't seen any of the other two so any thoughts would be good to know.

Some of the other Kill recruits worked out really well.

Do these guys have strong arms? I haven't seen any of them throw much (haven't been to practices).

My imaginary-money is on Hare.

It is imaginary because I got my credit card bill from the Orange Bowl.

Coach Carey does not seem to have a problem with his ego so I expect that the decision will come down to talent level and I doubt that who recruited who have anything to do with it.

I hope that it is an open competition and that it is not McIntosh by default because he has some limited game time experience. Don't get me wrong here, I am not saying that McIntosh is a bad apple.

I will place my money on Williams. Saw him play in the playoffs two years ago for Geneva. Best athlete on the field and best quarterback I saw that year. The kid has an arm and punted for Geneva. Redshirted this year.

I will say McIntosh just because of experience. Since Lynch is a senior and whoever is the backup this year will most likely be the starter the following year, I'd like to see some good competition this offseason.

McIntosh. He is in the driver's seat in the after Lynch era.

I gotta go with him as well. Wasn't he Mr. Indiana for football or something like that? That says a lot to me in terms of the talent.

My $$$ is on Hare as well. IMO, we will not have a runner like Lynch and we will be transforming to a more power/pass game with big a$$ OL. We will resemble Wisc more in 2014 & 2015 than we do Harnish/Lynch.

Man, when was the last time we had more than one legitimate option for backup QB? It's a nice problem to have.

I would rather have Lynch backing up Harnish than what we have now.

You guys realize Hare was the lowest qb on the depth chart right. I don't know too much about the guy but I have a hard time believing the guy will go from 4th out of 4 to Lynch's understudy.

Stranger things have happened. Hell, we had an All MAC and NFL QB who did not start the opener his 4th yr. Depth chart is not infallible, gotta play em'.

He was not the lowest on the depth chart. Williams was. Hare dressed last year as the emergency QB in case Lynch and McIntosh got hurt. You see him in full uniform in the Toledo postgame video.

Williams also dressed and traveled with the team on road games. Williams was listed as 3rd String on the depth charts.

I can almost guarantee that Williams was the emergency QB all season. Re-watch the games, Williams is dressed for all of them signaling in calls. I saw Hare dressed maybe once.

Oh strange things have definitely happened but I just don't see the meteoric rise coming. I mean McIntosh is still in the program which leads one to think he is quite confident this is his gig after JL. Not only that, I have full confidence in who the coaches feel are best at that position and over the course of the last year, it seems they feel Williams is ahead of Hare.
