Louisville...that game was so lopsidedly called, that I think it's fair to say we were screwed over.

Here's my non-Chicken Little way of expressing my concerns...

Clearly, we didn't play our best game. Outside of Geron, we couldn't hit water if we fell out of a boat (sorry for the old, overused phrase). And yet, we kept up our defensive pressure, had them absolutely gassed, worked hard (outrebounded SMU, and most teams we've played), and gutted out a win on an off night. We will simply have to play better to beat Southern Miss, they're too good of a team for us to be able to play sloppy and expect to leave Hattiesburg with a win. Hopefully, the performance against a well-coached SMU team (Larry Brown is still the only coach with NCAA and NBA championship rings) will cause them to get their act together for the biggest game remaining on our schedule. We have an opportunity to take a 2-game lead in the conference standings and we need to capitalize.

There, I expressed my (real) concerns with our performance last night without throwing the team, individual players, or the coaching staff under the bus.

Evidently Goodwin was cleared to play this morning, so it's back to USM VS Memphis with both a full strength.

It should be a great game to watch or attend.

Hope for a well played game where the officials don't get involved in the decision, no one gets hurt, and the best team that day wins.

With a packed Reed Green, this will be just like UAB road game. Either way, both teams should benefit in the long run from playing in front of a packed arena against a relatively high RPI opponent.

This discussion has been going on for several years, but has largely been contained to the Memphis board. There is a group of fans who feel Pastner is desecrating the Memphis "brand" and needs to be fired in favor of someone like Bruce Pearl, or Shaka Smart, or whatever flavor of the month they come up with. Theh criticize everything, constantly talk down accomplishments and wins, and basically are just uber-pissed every Memphis team isn't the 2008 team.

It's killing legitimate discussion on the Memphis board, because it devolves into Pastner-haters and Pastner-defenders, and never the tween shall meet.

In the sense that every game concerns me, I certainly don't disagree at all. We are certainly capable of losing one or more this season. And a conference tourney win is no lock either.
