Pretty funny coming from you given your user ID here is only intended to piss on Kent State.

There is a vast misunderstanding of what trolling actually is.

The fact that Marshall tries to block every shot that is attempted from 10 feet in affects his rebounding totals. Add to that the fact that Dambrots' system of playing 10 guys 20 minutes each, means that its difficult for any player on the Zips to put up big #'s.

You're exaggerating and people there overreact.

Everything you say is absolutely true but I think what is being lost here isn't whether Cooper is a better rebounder than Marshall (he's obviously not). It's that Cooper's rebounding numbers are pretty darn remarkable considering his size. Miami had a PG a few years back (for some reason his name escapes me at the moment) who was also a tremendous rebounder for his size. Cooper accomplishes it with anticipation and vision whereas Miami's guard did it the more traditional way, with strength. I know there is penchant on this board to put down anything Ohio but what Cooper has done is impressive to say the least.

Topped only by the penchant for Ohio fans on this board to take hyping their team/player/coach/band/airport/fans/etc... to a new level.

Ohio bringing a sellout

@JasonAmessenger Wrote:Zips get sellout for Saturday's 5 p.m. game with Ohio. JAR listed capacity is 5,500. Snarkiness requires I note OU averages 6,153/home date

and the ESPN "Distributor of the Month":

ESPN Wrote:Distributor of the Month – D.J. Cooper, Ohio
(November: Michael Carter-Williams; December: Trey Burke)

Sacred Heart’s Phil Gaetano led the nation in assists in January (9.6 APG), but no one had more assists per 40 minutes than Cooper (11.7). He either scored or assisted on 48 percent of the Bobcats’ field goals during the month. Ohio went 7-0 in January, and almost no one is as important to his own team.

According to ZipsMBB, if 85% of the students who picked up tickets show up, there will be a new student attendance record tomorrow.

Not bad!

I hope so. This could be a game we remember for years. I want the atmosphere to be there.

I hope both teams manage to win all their games between this one and the return trip, 12-0 v 11-1 would be crazy fun.

Marshall and Treadwell played well, Ohio didn't have a great game shooting and they didn't rebound the ball.

I guess it wouldn't be fair to compare stats in NCAA tournament games either since Cooper has played way more minutes than Marshall has there too.

05-stirthepot

I guess DJ is also better than Michael Jordan since DJ has more points, rebounds, and steals in their college careers. It's not DJ's fault that MJ left early for the NBA.

05-stirthepot

Naw Michael Jordan would've found a way to win that game 03-wink

But is that surprising? Rebounding is Ohio's biggest weakness.

Tonight was the largest crowd in the Dambrot era: 5,770. (I'm assuming there was record student attendance as well).

Dambrot mentioned that this attendance trend will help "bring this program to the next level".

Abreu mentioned after the game that this was the best atmosphere they have experienced in the MAC.

I'm happy.

So drawing 5,770 will take you to the "next level"? We pull 2,000 more than that on Wednesdays against NIU. If we had you guys on a Saturday we'd hit 11,000.

I'll tell you what will take you to the "next level": keep playing games like you did today. That's the most complete game I've seen Akron play since Zeke arrived on campus. He and Abreu played lights out. Best game those two have played together ever. If they keep that up, I'll be congratulating you in March on your first ever NCAA tourney win. Kudos to a great game. The return match should be another great one.
