I do not really get the Yoda ban myself. He is very effective at pushing his agenda and telling people what they do not want to hear or choose to ignore. Big East board has recently become very sensitive since BSU jumped ship.

I wouldn't ban anyone unless they are really out of line. I back free speach and only look negatively on racist, religious, and personal attacks. I like the extreme left and right side debates as long as people keep it mature.

I'd suggest that our admin move it back but you don't like dealing with the fact that you never should have banned me in the first place so you'd just delete it. When I got booted, I complained to the publisher, who then asked the offending mod why he did it. His response: "Nothing specific, but being a general pain who everyone is complaining about.". "Being a general pain who everyone is complaining about" is not a violation of the rules, however. And "everyone" is a gross exaggeration.

Of course the reason "everyone" was complaining about me was that the moderator let them complain when there was no basis for complaint. What he should have done was this: each time that another poster called me a troll or a fool or whatever -- for posting an opinion that they didn't like -- or ridiculed me or my sign off, or otherwise tried to take the discussion off topic by making it about personalities, he should have actually moderated.

He should have warned those posters that such posts were not acceptable and were themselves a violation of the rules. He should have reminded them that there is a distinction between legitimate debate and trolling -- and that calling someone a troll for merely posting a non-conforming opinion is not acceptable. He should have reminded them that the rule against personal attacks on other posters also applies to attacks made against outsiders. He should have reminded them that criticism on my sign off (Yoda out...) or silly Star Wars comments are not on topic and are not appropriate. He should have made certain that it stayed about content and he should have never let it devolve into being about personalities. He should have brought the actual offenders under control and this problem would have gone away.

But he didn't. There wasn't a single warning issued at all. Instead the mod let it spiral out of control to the point where it really was a distraction and then he used as justification for booting me the very complaints that he never should have allowed in the first place.

And the publisher backed him up.

They have 13 mods there -- 12 of whom ignored me and one of whom, well, didn't. And none of whom make any attempt whatsoever to stop the attacks on outsiders.

Personally, I think they should all be replaced. I'd apply but somehow I think I might not get the job and I just couldn't take any more rejection this week.
