As a Pitt fan, I can't complain about drawing Florida State next year as a home game. That's about as good as it gets.

Well FSU fans are disappointed we lost VT as a home game.

Nobody better say anything about FSU only wanting 8 conference games, either. That has nothing to do with FSU. It only came about AFTER ND joined the conference which leads me to believe it was changed for them and only them.

Yes. Virgina/Virginia Tech is part of "Rivalry Week". It was a non-conference game until 2004, and remains in the final week of the regular season.

Why do you assume that FSU fans are the only ones that would prefer 8 conf games. No doubt Clemson and GT liked 8 games better too due to the fact that they are also playing SEC schools. Do you know what other fans like the idea of an 8 game conf schedule? Pitt fans. The latest talk is that ND may be trying to make arrangements to play Pitt and BC annually and thus looking at playing 6 ACC games annually instead of 5. That would have 4 games used for rotating through the ACC. Not sure if this is going to be a go or not, but that's one rumor floating around. Also, Pitt and PSU just might ink a long term annual scheduling agreement.

If both the PSU and ND end up being annual games, then Pitt will have 10 games committed to BCS level teams. Your comeback would probably be that PSU is going to be down for awhile so it's no skin off Pitt's nose to play them. Except the reality will be that PSU will not be down forever, and if Pitt and PSU ink a deal then it will will give Pitt a very challenging schedule down the road. Maybe you think having Florida annually is a killer, but I think it would be a pretty big challenge for Pitt to play both PSU and ND annually as OOC games too. There's no reason to make assumptions that everyone in the ACC is enamored with 9 conf games.

Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled that Pitt will be in the same conf as FSU, Clemson, VT, GT and the rest of the current ACC. But Pitt also has to do its best to maintain some historical rivalries too.

OOC game is ok for Labor Day, as long as the home team is ACC.

VT played Boise St on Labor Day.

I hate to say this as a Pitt fan but Florida State @ Pitt shouldn't be a tough game for the 'Noles.

I wonder if the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game would be willing to do a Labor Day night game?

I imagine the biggest game of the opening weekend will be Georgia @ Clemson (Saturday Night on ABC). LSU-TCU Cowboys Classic is slated for Saturday primetime from what I've read, probably the ESPN slot.

So the two spots for the Bama-VT game look to be either 3:30 Saturday on ABC...or Labor Day night.

I suspect the Labor Day game will be an ACC conference game, which may involve moving other OOC games around.

RE: [MERGED] Check out ACC.com at 11 A.M for football schedules
Last time VT played Labor Day night was the Boise St. game, which was then followed on a short week by a loss at home to James Madison. Not saying lightning would strike twice, but Beamer might request standard rest in a situation like that. I don't know what type of team VT is bringing back, so I don't know if its a team that will respond well to short rest even its its a perceived lesser opponent.

EDIT: I missed that VT played last Labor Day vs. GT. Move along, nothing to see here.

Play a few ACC teams ooc? We've already got our non-conference schedule set (as sorry as it is), so how would that be possible?

Buy out of the FIU/Ohio games. Nobody wants to see that. I think Georgia Tech has an open date early in the season IIRC.
