Their bench might be young and inexperienced...but there is nothing about marshal, abreu, Gilliam, walsh, harney and treadwell that screams young. They do have some frosh and new guys in their rotation, but none are their top 5 or 6.
Marshall Sr. vs. Whittington RS Jr.- Edge Marshall, but not a big edge. Marshall has not developed like I expected, and Whittington has developed exponentially.
Gilliam Sr. vs. Hutch Sr.- Edge Hutch, but Hutch can tank like nobodies business. He has to have a solid game.
Treadwell Jr. vs. Paul Fr. - Edge Treadwell, but not a big edge. Both average 10 pts a game. Treadwell has shown he can own us athletically, but that was against last years band of underachievers. I suspect Paul and his length will give Treadwell some problems.
Abreu Jr. vs Richie Soph- Big edge Abreu. His 9pts per game is nice, but his 6 assists is more impressive. Good defender who gets a lot of steals going the other way.
Walsh Jr. (Xavier transfer) vs. Pokley- Enormous edge to Walsh. Has size, can score, can rebound, and is a 46% shooter from three. Poke is simply not hard for teams to defend.
Nick Harney, Junior, comes off the bench and averages almost 10ppg in limited duty (usually around 15 min. per game). 51% shooter and a decent rebounder.
Hawk vs. Dombrot- To say that Dombrot owns Hawk would be an understatement. Furthermore, there isn't a venue in the MAC where we play worse than at Akron.
We probably match up better with Akron this year than in previous years, with the exception of the DK era, where we matched up well, but were simply outcoached.
