Give Pastner His Due.
Counzo had a week to prepare for us (as we did for him).

Pastner was without Tarik Black.

Pastner was taking a freshman (Goodwin) into a 20,000 arena to hold the fort.

The zone defense he drew up to throw at the Vols was BEAUTIFUL. We weathered a late UT run. We adapted to inevitable foul trouble.

Pastner gets a gold star for this one. Our team was ready to play. I'm proud of our coach today.

He can't beat a Top 20 team though..:)

Great win without your best player and up against all the negative stuff talked about on the scheduling. Josh is a diamond in the rough...Bowen needs to know he better hold on to him.

We are starting to look like a well coached team now.

We are cutting down on the fancy street crap and making more and more fundamental plays. Good coached teams keep it simple and we are starting to have that same feel.

I was at the Grizz game and everyone around me had their phone tracking the score. When we saw the 15 pt lead it was all smiles. I gathered they were playing good. Glad to hear there is noticeable improvement.

Definitely a different tiger team. Very few wild plays and crazy passes or stupid plays.

Very smart and controlled basketball most of the game. Even when UT caught fire late in the game. We handled it pretty well and their crowd was electric. Sure, we let them come back but we maintained poise when it counted the most.

Very nice to see.

Gotta give Josh some props. This team is getting it.

For the first time, in a long time, we looked like the more disciplined team. This was without Tarik Black.

I was impressed with the compsure in an atmosphere like TBA tonight. Late in the second half, it got loud several times.

Yep we're tough on Josh but he deserves serious props for having the guys ready and like you guys have already said it was done without Black, which is saying something

They were all business tonight, but they were relaxed and had smiles on their faces. They were enjoying it immensely. It was great fun to witness this, even on tv.

They have been building team chemistry and confidence all season, and I think they were able to be a TEAM in every sense of the word tonight in a hostile environment. It seems they genuinely like and respect each other.

As the Vols chipped away at our lead, we had players step up, take shots and make them. Glad we didn't cave or panic under the pressure. One of our best efforts in Knoxville and this year.

RE: Give Pastner His Due.
For the first time in a long time, The team looked prepared and confident. They led from jump to buzzer. JJ looked confident, GJ and DJ looked great. It seemed Pastner knew what personnel to use and when, which is better game management. The team finally looked like what they should have looked like for the past two years, a superiorly talented and athletic team who understands the game and exhibits advanced skills. The next level is consistency, can they look like this for an extended period, 5 , 10 games?
