RE: Sun Belt expansion on hold
Now that Bosie state has decided to say in MWC I expect SDSU to do the same. I get more and more a feeling where the Big East will go after a couple more and Tulsa and Utep are rumored to be talking to the MWC. If this happens I think you will see a SBC/CUSA merger. And for that reason alone is why I believe the SBC has not added any new members.

Why merger when you can just take the teams you want? CUSA will take GSU, WKU, Ark St and Lafayette and maybe USA then leave the others to do what they want. It would be a bad business decision not to weed out the weakest links.

I think the realignment will continue by conferences just inviting teams that they want, I don't think a merger would work.

ASU is not going anywhere. They are in a smaller market than Troy is. and GSU has too poor facilities and basketball/Football for CUSA. Heck I dont even want them in the SBC.

You won't have to worry about it much longer. GSU is too big to fail and will be leaving troy state and the sunbelt in their rear view mirror in just a few short years.

Exactly. All of those teams are in better conferences than the sunbelt. When's the last time another team left a FBS conference to join the sunbelt? Look, I want a sunbelt invite for JSU because it's the easiest way for us to transition into FBS. If another conference was interested in us, I would be for that. I was even more excited about the proposed WAC east option. The sunbelt should focus on doing what it does best - providing an avenue for FCS schools. Grow and nurture those programs, even if the more attractive one's will always leave you. You know this because it's exactly what happened with troy state.

And all of them suck at football... I'd rather win games, go to bowls than have back to back to back to back losing seasons...CUSA had had a losing record to the SBC 3 years running now.
And to answer your question. Last year. Texas state leaves the WAC for SBC.
Btw... We haven't been Troy State in over 10 years.

You all have been and will always continue to be troy state to us...no more, no less.....
We see past the hype of the "international" university crap and know that troy state is and always will be just another small-town school in rural alabama -
just sayin'......

Aren't you halfway to that 4 year losing season streak yourself? I can't understand anyone from troy state looking down their noses at other programs. You have the superiority complex of bammer fans without the wins.

Sure every team has down years. But I think our over all record speaks for itself. Only school with a winning percentage in the belt. And 5 championship rings and 5 bowl appearances. We will be back. 2 years doesn't undo years of success.

I'm sure you will return to winning seasons soon. Larry is too good of a coach for you to be down much longer. I'm just not sure how motivated he is these days. You may have to have him step down in order for you to get much better. New blood has a way of getting everyone excited again. I know Clark has got all of us excited again after 13 years of Crowe.

RE: Sun Belt expansion on hold
Don't worry about us being bad next year. We just fired our DC and are bringing in Auburn university Wayne Bolt who was our DC back from 1997-2002...
In 1991, Bolt joined the staff at Troy University, working under fellow former Auburn assistant Larry Blakeny as the offensive line coach. In 1997, he was promoted to defensive coordinator and assistant head coach for the Trojans. Bolt's defenses were extremely successful at Troy. In 2002, in only the second season competing at the NCAA I-A level, the Trojans produced one of the nation's top defenses under Bolt's guidance. The Trojans ranked 4th nationally in total defense, yielding only 276.8 yards per game. The unit ranked 13th in rushing defense (105.3 yards per game), 30th in scoring defense (21.0 ppg) and 33rd in pass efficiency defense (112.42).

Oh no, you've hired Wayne Bolt. I'm sure the other Sunbelt schools are shaking.

It's more likely the beginning of the end for Troy. The rest of the SunBelt has passed them in quality and most have far more to offer than Troy. I mean, really, who wants to be stuck in Pike County Alabama for four (or more) years

Ya so says our 2013 SBC baseball Title.
If you really think this is the beginning of the end your foolish. But it is nice in our 2 worst years ever under Blakeney we still manage to beat Hapless UAB.
