Or they could be fat, out of shape, and not give a rip. Been there done that.
We are talking about them, not me.

At least save it for games that actually warrant that kind of a response.
Take it to the bank. The ACC preseason favs will get swept by NC and Duke, and won't finish in the top three of the league.
This team will not win the ACC. Dip you r right they will not finish top 3. Next year when SU goes there NC State will be longing for David Thompson more than ever

Let's not forget Monty Towe who threw those ally oops to DT.
Imagine if David Thompson could have dunked in college. The guy was 6'3" on a good day and played 6'10". I always ranked Bill Walton as the best college player ever, but Thompson was a close second.

At what point will one you just throw this out there: 'if I were coach we would have won.'
Will someone grow a set and just say it.
I have heard a lot of comments alluding to Hawk wasting talent. Perhaps this board is wasting talent as it seems there are some basketball gurus among us.

Hawk's lived a charmed life. Inherited one of the most talented MAC teams in years, yet even then barely eeked out a title and did nothing in the NCAA.
He's a good recruiter who plays in one of the weakest divisions in DI bbball. Talent and a weak division can mask a lot of coaching miscues.
The season that did it for me was 08/09. Western had Kool, Lawson/Lowe, Gary, Drews, Whitfield, and Redell/Ricks at PG. Our record was 7-9 in the MAC, and we lost in the first round of the tourney as usual. How do you go sub .500 with that talent on your roster? I'm sure Hawk said they were "young pups." In the mean time Kent is fielding a team of JC transfers and getting to the finals every year.

hopefully that 08-09 season will never happen again, the thing that did it for me that year was losing to SIU edwardsville by 11. HORRIBLE!

FYI -
Tons of free content up on "The Wolfpacker" (N.C. State Rivals affiliate) following the WMU vs. N.C. State game. All worthwhile reads/audio IMO.

Let meeeee guess....along the lines of "great win for the Wolfpack over a very good, well coached WMU team who played hard".

What do you think about starting Klein at the point, sliding Richie over to the 2, and then keep Hutch, Paul, and Whit where they're at at 3, 4, and 5?
Not opposed to that concept.
My only problem with that is now you have basically no depth at PG when both Klein and Richie need a puff. You're also losing one good defender (Pokley) in favor two average defenders (Klein & Richie). So I'm not sure it makes a huge difference one way or another.
Might be the only way Hawk can play his cards right now due to lack of depth at PG right now. Just thinking out loud for discussion.

WE SHOULD HAVE TRIED IT 3-4 GAMES AGO. SOUNDS GREAT, But Hawk is never gonna do it heading onto conference play. Pokley good defense ??? for a stickman he's fooled a few people.

He's fundamentally sound until he gets behind, then he's toast and can't recover. I remember how he feels.

I would almost prefer to have Richie come off the bench because of the fact that he can play PG or SG. Potential instant offense coming off the bench for Pokley would be nice, or if Klein struggles he can come in and play PG. Problem with that is you're probably cutting into Taylor Perry's minutes, which I feel he's clearly earned.

Hell yes he has! You really notice the energy he brings when we're matched up against more athletic teams. There are stretches when we have our subs on the floor when it's just plain inertia. Gotta love Perry's spark.

RE: NC State game thread
Not sure where the notion of hutch getting benched came from. Box score shows he logged 30 mins.
Three things stuck out in my mind.
1. We don't have the 3 point shooters to hang with a top 25 team like NC state. We lack someone who has the balls to pull up five feet from beyond the arc and bury one. DK and Wolf are recent examples. Drew had the ability, he should've shot more. Poke can't get his shot off fast enough or he isn't aggressive enough looking for his shot. We need better 3 point shooters. Svete fits the bill next year, hopefully kellen can help too. In the meantime, we can't shoot ourselves into a game vs a team like nc state.
2. Howell and Leslie are really friggin good. I feel like they got a tongue lashing at halftime and responded.
3. I really think Richie is at PG only because Klein isn't quite ready. He isn't a true PG. 6 turnovers in 28 mins is a rough outing. He had some unforced errors that concern me. NC state was not pressuring us very much on D.
Akron won't be easy. Probably our toughest game remaining on schedule.

I watched Akron, we'll probably be able to hang, make it look close, until the fouls take their toll in the middle of the second half.
