Tight Ends very important.
One play I would love to see is a fake to the Wide Reciever screen and send the blocking receiver down the field for the pass.
Teams are rushing up to make the tackle in the bowl games I have watched.

If the OL gets smashed...it is going to be a really long night for Lynch and NIU. Spreading the field will help, but the need to keep FSU from reaching Lynch before the plays develop will be important.

Quick screens and quick slants will help..however, FSU likes to play press coverage, and plays against these very well with the speed on defense. Lynch could take advantage with going over the top and with drag routes across the middle - this has been the biggest issue with FSU's defense this year, but will need the time to hit those plays.

Even if the D-Line manages to get consistent pressure, you have to keep in mind that Lynch is probably the most mobile QB FSU's defense has faced this year. I'll agree that Tajh Boyd is probably a better passer, but he's nowhere near as elusive as Lynch is. So even if the D-Line can get pressure, you've still gotta worry about him moving out of the pocket. Keeping contain will be key for the FSU stopping our offense.

I also have a question about the FSU D. I know you've said there's a lot of depth, but how often do you rotate guys in and out? NIU rotates at least 8 guys on the D-Line and at least 5 at LB.

FSU rotates about 8 on the D-Line and has at times rotated 10. There is not as much rotation at LB, but it is around 6 that rotate. The thing for FSU is that the second team is just as strong as the first team. Coach Fisher has recruited really well and there is a lot of size and speed on defense.

While we might not have faced someone as mobile as Lynch, he will not be able to break long runs based on the LBs and Safeties that like to play close to the line. I am not worried about the rushing attack for NIU...it is the fact that FSU could get beat "peeking" into the backfield too much.

Unless he gets passed the LBs and safties.

I would think if they play closer to the line, it makes it more likely he can break big runs.. he'd just be less productive on the plays that don't break free.

Yes, this would be the logical thought process.

OK...yes that is all true...if Lynch breaks through the DL, the LBs and Safeties...he is going to break a big play.

Also, I hear compact discs are replacing cassette tapes. 04-jawdrop

There just have not been many teams to run the ball well against FSU...in fact it was really just one - UF and that was after our offense forced our D on the field for much too long.

NIU will need to have plays through the air and not the ground.

No worries there. Lynch has been known to throw a few passes this year. He has also been known to punt and to knock the crap out of defenders, too.

Say, did anyone ever tell you that it's not politically correct to use an Indian as your mascot? I know, I know. You paid the Seminoles million$ to exploit their image. Funny, how political correctness gets washed away for a few million!

Are you serious??? lol...obviously you know as much about the Seminole Tribe as I do about which car you drive to work...nothing.

FSU doesn't pay the Seminole Tribe a single dollar. By the way, they don't need the money. A few years ago the Seminole Tribe of Florida bought the Hard Rock franchise...in CASH.

Seminole Tribe of Florida is proud of the recognition and the respect FSU shows the Seminoles. They are the only native american tribe to never sign a surrender document and technically are still at war with the United States.

For as much as you criticize FSU fans for not knowing much about NIU, I find it hypocritical you would even suggest things you really have zero comprehension of.

Might have been a little harsh and sorry...but FSU Alumni and Fans are very sensitive to that subject...

Please check the facts on the usage and history of the Seminoles...

FYI - Eastern Michigan changed their name from the Hurons to Eagles to be politically correct (which annoyed a lot of supporters apparently, and IIRC wasn't even due to disagreement from the tribe), however, Central Michigan kept their name as the Chippewas. Go figure.

Not sure if Dog Fan was serious here, he can be pretty sarcastic.

Fair enough and I don't want either of our comments taken out of context...it is just something FSU fans hear enough of...I am Irish but I don't care about ND's usage.

There is a huge difference between Seminoles, Chippewas and than the use of Redskins.

Thanks for telling us about the Seminole thing, I was under the impression that you and North Dakota were paying tribes for that as many other schools had to change, interesting to know these things
