FSU Players on NIU and Orange Bowl
James Wilder Jr - RB
http://www.seminoles.com/allaccess/?media=359213

Christian Jones - LB
http://www.seminoles.com/allaccess/?media=359212

Highlight from Wilder interview in so many words: "Our O-line is much bigger than their D-line and our running backs are the same size as their LBs, so the running game should take off"

Highlight from Jones interview in so many words" "We've seen this type of offense a bunch of times and are very comfortable defending it"

Both said they wont be overlooking NIU

Wow...you obviously had different audio than the one you provided in your link.

Christian Jones did not disrespect NIU at all...his very first comments were actually that NIU is a good team and deserves to be there. Also stated they have good players.

Christian Jones only stated they have faced a similar offense before and a running quarterback but that FSU will have to play well. Not sure how you took anything from that where he is disrespecting NIU.

As for James Wilder, Jr...he states that FSU should not look overlook NIU and even said they look like a good team and have talent on defense. He is accurate in saying that the Florida State's O-Line is bigger and he is the same size as the linebackers. He never ever stated that they were going to run all over NIU.

Seems like you have only one motive here....05-stirthepot

RE: FSU Players on NIU and Orange Bowl
How much size difference was there between us and Iowa/Kansas?

We've played and beaten SEC and B10 teams before, and I'm sure they had a size advantage.

FSU has a gigantic O-Line; I hope our D line holds up.

NIU32 never said either of those two players disrespected NIU. You are reading something into his post that is not there.

very simply, if there running game gets in gear, they will wear down our D.......keeping them on the field and our offense on the bench. obviously, Lynch will have a target on his back.......we will need production from Akeem D to keep their D honest

Both quotes were wrong...it doesn't matter.

Good luck to all players and welcome to BCS football.

How were they wrong? Wilder and Jones both said that and honestly I dont think it was a bad thing for them to say either. They didnt talk badly about NIU at all and I never said they did. I also said both players said they werent taking NIU lightly. Im surprised you were this upset about it. I didnt post this to "stir the pot" i thought it was just a normal interview... Sorry you feel that way man...

You can't apologize now. You added a chip to our shoulder and then you take it away by being nice? We want that chip back!

RE: FSU Players on NIU and Orange Bowl
I'm a firm believer that games are won and lost in the trenches. I did a bit of research to see just what the differences are between the lines and here's what I found. These are averages for all players at each position. Maybe someone can do just the 2 deeps.

NIU
DE - 6' 1.6" (10 players), 220.3lbs
DL/DT - 6' 1" (9), 283.8lbs (10 players) - one of the heights wasn't listed
C/OL - 6'4" (20), 299.95lbs

FSU
DE - 6' 3.7" (9), 257.5lbs
DL/DT - 6' 1.3" (12), 304.6lbs
OL - 6' 4.2" (20), 301.5lbs

FSU's defensive ends are 2.1" and 37.2lbs larger than NIU's defensive ends
FSU's defensive tackles are .03" and 20.8lbs larger than NIU's defensive tackles
FSU's offensive lineman are .02" and 1.55lbs larger than NIU's offensive lineman

The big differences are the height and weight of FSU's DE's and the weight of their DT's. Everything else is pretty much even. Now that I see the numbers I'm worried about our O line being able to block well enough to stop their D ends. Those are big dudes! Our DE's are no slouches either but they are less likely to bull rush our OL (in practice for instance) than the DE's on FSU. Our tackles will be used to the speed but the strength and agility hopefully won't be too much of a surprise.

I wish Carey would put Semisch in at TE. His size alone would scare the crap out of FSU's D.

When Semisch steps up his blocking, he'll get more PT.
