Shy miami or bust!
Well just got two tickets for game, and am purchasing bus fare down and back today. ANd staying by the beach 2 blocks from it for 4 nights. All together without the variable costs of food and whatever the fixed costs for me are $476. Not bad at all. Of course I went all through Egypt from Alexandria to Aswan Dam for only $5.50 on trains whole way. So I know how to do it inexpensively. Hope to see you all there.

Good job! 03-thumbsup

Here is a story about a Florida State fan who found an unusual way to pay for his trip to Miami.

RE: miami or bust!
Hello, For those wishing to do this cheaply other than subsidized student travel. Greyhound or trailways is cheapest public transport. No amtrak there. Stubhub tickets sorry would like to buy from Niu if I had income coming in but since dont need to go that route. and Youth hostels and florida state campgrounds pitching a tent or sharing a room with 8 or 10 others sometimes mixed coed. With lockers and such to safeguard valuables you need not worry about theivery. I have already learned a lesson in naietivity getting picked in Cairo and Tel Aviv. I will be sitting in section 416 row 24 and got two tickets had to purchase an extra as they were sold as pair but price quite cheap and wish to sell and set by someone not too loquaicious or unstable. to You need to advance purchase the bus fare to get discount can still get decent discount even 7 days out I got my with 14 day window. The hostels are only 21 to 27 per night, and they have facilitireaes to cook and meet interesting foreign travellers, with staff who know a great deal of anything you want to know. If you are not outgoing extrovertive or like people but are sullen, withdrawn and like to stare at a lonely tv in a hotel room I suggest you do it the more convenient expensive way to travel and not in this fashion

This is most definitely NOT the way for most of us. Good job getting down there & supporting the Huskies. 04-cheers

Harem, love reading about your plan....I'm so jealous. It reminds me of my Peace Corps days and how I used to travel. Hey, what Hostel are you staying at? I couldn't find any near the Stadium. I might have to copy your 'Game Plan' in order to swing this trip...

Hey Huskie Jeffrey,
If I can help great. Now I realize I could have perhaps taken a plane for only 393$ which I found out on looking for consolidators.com which is an airfare budget deals web site. But living in Bloomington I would have had to spend extra money on a bus to ohare and end up spending as much or slightly less than the 345$ for a greyhound bus ticket. The tickets via stub hub and I still have one since I had to buy as a pair were $51 for the pair including 5$ service fee and 11.95$ fed ex shipping fee two days. I just booked 4 nights from the 30th to the 3rd of January for 96$ at the Hollywood Beach hotel/hostel in Ft. Lauderdale or rather Hollywood Beach just a bit north of Miami. Then there was the hotel tax and state of florida taxes they levy on all accomodations of 10.56$ which means expect that you will have to pay a 11% tax on any hostel or hotel that they may or may not include and tell you about. So total costs of this are $502 that includes two game tickets 4 nights accomodations which are just one block from the ocean, and transportation there and back to bloomington illinois. Not the intrepid traveller I once was who rode on top of trains across the sahara and in india, nevertheless if I at 60 years of age can do this anyone can. Good luck and hope to see you there or in future at huskie stadium. Dave class of 1974
