Observer, I think you are splitting hairs. There is a difference to me in traveling well and traveling like Alabama or Ohio State. If that is your standard of measure than that is insane. That would be like saying you aren't a good football team unless you beat Alabama or Ohio State. That is not rational.

ECU travels well, but we do not travel like Alabama.

RE: ECU accepts bid to R+L Carriers Bowl
Aside from all the ECU fans thinking we are garbage. Hopefully, some of you can make it to NOLA.

The New Orleans bowl really is a perfect situation for us crowd wise. We have people home visiting family for the holidays who start with the bowl game. We also have a large alumni base in New Orleans.

Plus, people from Lafayette love going to New Orleans. I know everyone wants to play an AQ school in a bowl game. But, IMO, a bowl is about the destination more than the game anyway. Unless you are playing for a national championship.

Personally, I don't think ULL is "garbage" Slappy. I said earlier in this thread that ULL has had a great season and this ought to be a shootout of a game. I'll be in NOLA and look forward to a seeing some of the city and a whole lotta football. 04-cheers

I know. I was being sarcastic.

I think it's hypocritical sometimes. Obviously, I respect ECU wanting to play an AQ in a bowl game. Everyone does. But, sometimes, non-AQ's get the feeling they are "better" than another non-AQ. Yet, we all get pissed because the AQ's have a superiority complex towards us. Look, I get that there's a pecking order.

By almost any conceivable metric, ECU has a better football program than UL, except perhaps tailgating menu. And, it's not just ECU fans, our fans do it towards ULM. It's just a football game. i wish more ECU fans would make it, because I think the atmosphere could be electric.

Cajuns are an excitable bunch, but come to NOLA for the bowl game or Lafayette for a home game, and I think you will find the nicest, most good-natured fans out there. Plus, you wont' go hungry or thirsty.

Here's to an injury free game.

Get it straight...you are a Tulane fan, and I am making fun of you! Your team doesn't travel to HOME games.

I don't know crap about ULL.

We have played ECU 10 times, most of it was when we were USL. BTW, we lead the head to head meetings, 6-4.

ULL is 40 minutes away. ECU is over $1500 away. What do you not understand about this??

What I understand is an avid fan base travels well to any bowl, no matter the distance. ECU does not happen to be one of those. And ECU's uppity attitude towards ULL is unearned.

You TOTALLY have the right to say this when you're traveling a measly 120 miles...for the second time....in your second bowl game. 03-nutkick

Yeah...and Tech goes every year! Ooops...not this year. Boom!

Have you been to any of the Liberty bowls in Memphis since the mid 90's to the present where ECU was invited? Have you been to the Military Bowl? Have you been to the Mobile Bowl or others that ECU has been invited to?

We had 17,500 in DC a few years ago. We had 15K in each of our liberty bowl appearances except for Arkansas where we had 10K. We had about 10K in the awful Mobile bowl. Please stop with this we don't travel well. That is why bowls want us, because we buy tickets and support our team.

You need to check your arrogance at the door and get a little bit of humility.

As for the Hawaii bowl. We sold several hundred tickets and then had alumni buy the rest of the 5,000 ticket allotment and donate them to the military so that they could attend the game.

As for this year, I don't know how well we will travel. No offense to ULL, but no one is excited about playing them. The Pirate Nation has apprehension about the game because our defense is terrible. Good offenses tend to put up video game numbers against them. Many of us are uneasy about this game because of the uncertainty of our defense. We could easily lose this one.

Vegas has us favored by 6 points.

Looks like the Cajuns will have over 24,000 tickets sold as of tonight. Order forms are piling up! We have such a great following and we ARE a "sleeping giant." In the middle of a recruiting hot bed, enrollment is through the ceiling....Look out and remember UL Ragin Cajuns!

I'm thinking the bowl count will hit 50k this year! That's about a cool $1 mil profit for the Cajuns....Hopefully we can pad Coach Hud's pocket with the majority of that so that he doesn't go out and test those waters....

New Orleans Bowl is opening the Upper Deck for the first time in the bowl's history. This game is going to be loud.

A lot of fans will definitely give you an edge. Like I said before, we are the underdog. You may have some other fellow Pirates that think we are going to blow you out, but the majority don't think that at all. We would be more confident if we had a good defensive coordinator. I am hoping we can pull it out as you would be the first team with a winning record that we beat this year. Every other team with a winning record that we played this year blew us out.

The bottom line is ECU can and will travel well to a game that appeals to them. Playing in New Orleans against ULL 3 days before Christmas just does not move the meter for of general fan base.

Now this post is not meant to belittle ULL, I respect your program and you guys have a very good team this season.

RE: ECU accepts bid to R+L Carriers Bowl
I ordered my tickets through the school and got them in the mail today. There are two areas in the lower level. Plaza Club Sideline ($60) and Plaza Sideline ($40). Plaza Club is between the 30 yard lines and Plaza Sideline is from the 30 to the Goalline. I decided to go a little cheaper and save $100 with Plaza Sideline. Our seats are at about the the 20 yard line, one row from the top of the lower level.

Reason I bring this up is that I ordered my tickets pretty early and expected to be sitting a little closer. Still not bad seats, but it makes me wonder if we have more fans coming then we think we do just based on where my seats are. The school was looking for at 5000, but I'm thinking we're gonna have more than that before gameday.

Sounds like the Cajuns are gonna have a large, loud and proud crowd, so us ECU fans need to step up as the 12th man and support our team as much as possible.

Hope there are more that can somehow make the trip.

I really think ECU fans are the least excited about this bowl than any bowl game in our history. Funny how Sun Belt teams get excited for these trivial bowl games. I could care less how many fans the team we are playing bring to the game. Hooray, good for them. Still not impressed.
