RE: New scoreboard for Huskie Stadium
Not all stadiums are surrounded by beauty. You guys are being unreasonable. Our "problem" is that we have an open south end. A solution would be to enclose the south endzone with seating or a wall of some sort. But this is not in the immediate plans.

Put the new scoreboard in the north endzone please. Of course don't block the view from the Yordon center. We need to plain for the future.

What are you putting in the South endzone then? I don't think it would be very difficult to move the scoreboard if they eventually add seats.

Great! we will finally have a Jumbo Tron, instead of just a regular Tron.

Outside of the 30s (mostly on the North side) the students hit the current signs to make noise.

Maybe they come with an upper deck #problemsolved.

Here is a link to all the boards in college football..(If you click on the small blue number it will take you to a site to the board itself)

Looking at Indiana and Arkansas' new scoreboards and their cost, the Huskies scoreboard should be outstanding!

WF spent 2mil on this board just last year. Its 30 yards wide just as someone on here mentioned how wide ours will be.

Yeah, there's really no other place you can put it other than the south endzone.

What are they doing with the current video board?

They could give it to the baseball or softball teams.

I would give it to the soccer/track field but I think that the LCD part of the screen is past its years in usefulness and it wouldn't survive the move.

Can't you put it on the roof of the Yordan Center?

Ya but then it would hide the CPC.

It has to go in the south endzone. Maybe an smaller auxiliary scoreboard on top of Yorden. It would look awkward blocking the view of the Y and the looming roof of the IPF

Agreed the south endzone is the only place for it.

Blocking part of the CPC is OK

No reason not to put in the South end zone and block the apts. if we ever needed to add seats my understanding was that the East stands were built to be able to add another section above the current seats. Much more desirable than in the end zone. This problem is years away unfortunately.

How nice would it be if NIU added the good looking brick under the new scoreboard.

Not saying you're wrong but I'd be really curious to see how that load is carried. The stands shook to a terrifying degree during the Maryland game and even now you can see the sections move against each other when the band jumps.

Then again I've seen modern steel roller coasters sway FEET with passing trains. As they say, if it didn't bend it would break.
