Apartments on the top of the Grant and Stevenson
Aren't there apartments on the top of Grant and Stevenson? Has anyone ever been in them? What are they like?

RE: Apartments on the top of the Grant and Stevenson
There are some. How many? No idea. I lived on the 12th floor of Grant South B when I was a freshman. There is a 13th floor and someone who worked for the Residence Halls lived up there. She was a ***** and had a cat. Everytime I got drunk I wanted to climb the stairs to the 13th floor, find the cat, put a parachute on it and throw it out the window. I was never successful at getting the door open. I'm a failure

Yes

They are typically for people that work for NIU Housing who are also students.

I have only seen one in Grant once but I don't remember much other than it wasn't very special and it was oddly shaped with it being a triangle.

Do you remember if there was a balcony or a deck on the roof?

I don't think you could access the roof from the apartment. I think there is a separate access door for the maintenance people. I would have to say there was no deck. I actually don't think there was a decent view either because of the outside walls.

I think there is a decent view. It's nice. A little oddly shaped, but so many places to live are in college!

I went up there once, had a friend that was a GA for Housing. Can't remember if it was Grant or Stevenson. I was a little underwhelmed. There was a full kitchen, full bathroom, furniture, and decent size living space. Can't remember if the bedroom was separate but I want to say it was in the living room. Definitely had that 70's plain white/grey vibe to it that the towers had before the renovation. No access to roof or balcony from this. I believe there was a door out in the stairwell to get on the roof but she didn't have access to it.

The view was kinda cool, faced Huskie Stadium so you could see everything. However the windows weren't really big.

agreed. there are no decks or balconies. they are residence hall apartments and no one should have any more joy than a prisoner getting to stay in a room the same size for free at the county jail.

I thought the second floor was offices, but there probably is room for apartments too.
