Agree. At the risk of setting myself up for a disappointment, I think this is going to have a significant positive affect on the "game day" atmosphere. It will engage the fans throughout the game. I believe it will put more fans in the seats and keep them there longer.

Had to go to an Illness game this year. Forgive me. I noticed myself watching the game on the scoreboard when the ball was further away from where I was sitting. The definition was excellent.

All those short "funny" stuff they do with the Huskie players should be easier to see and hear now. Especially can't wait for all those highlights with soundtracks to be played also.

The Illness scoreboard is not the standard of excellence as in fact it is up for being replaced.

Any idea what western Michigans board cost? That is a nice scoreboard with great, easy to read numbers. Wouldn't mind that at HS

New scoreboard for Huskie Stadium
I think this is a great addition. Adds to quality of the NIU brand. I also agree the next upgrade is the press area. Keep focusing on the areas that will enhance our national reputation. Great job NIU!

Sorry but Iowa State's board looks ridiculous. It looks like an interstate truck stop sign.

Pretty sure the South Carolina was a bad photoshop job by The Onion until I Googled it. jeez that thing looks like a joke.
Lol. +1000 on the Iowa state scoreboard.

I think it is ugly too. So is their endzone building.

Hell, it is Iowa. Is there anything else in Iowa besides truck stops? It fits right in. 05-stirthepot Actually, I didn't think that SC's was that bad.

RE: New scoreboard for Huskie Stadium
I'm not sure how much the ribbon boards will be, but that cuts a bit into the $3.3 million. Not a ton, but a bit.

Anyway...

$1.8 million board (2011 dollars) at Coach Doeren's new home.

[Image: Draft%20Endzone_D_ANgle_UKathleticsscoring.jpg]

In 2011, Kentucky put one of these in BOTH end zones at a total cost of "close to $6 million." That price included demolition of both of the old boards and a new sound system.

Hopefully, we will have some artists renderings of what the big board and ribbon boards will look like soon.

Anyone have any idea what % of these costs will be paid for by advertising on the boards themselves?

I'm at least as excited about the ribbon boards as the video board. They will really spruce up the look of the stadium, adding a dynamic effect to the atmosphere. Not to mention, they will help modernize the stadium a lot for when we appear on TV.

I got depressed when I was watching the 30 for 30 on Ole Miss desegregating and they showed their stadium back in 1962. It was a dead ringer for Huskie Stadium today.

Yet since it's better than what we currently have, I found it to be pretty good.

Which is why I'm thinking this will be a HUGE difference in the HS GameDay experience!

I wonder if Daktronics is still going to do the software - we don't work with them anymore at the sports team I'm affiliated with, but they've done a great job in the past for NIU

it use to be that the scoreboard was given the board free and the company kept the advertising revenue. i guess that is not the case anymore

...I wonder if it comes with some bleacher seats?

Also wondering when the soccer/track complex gets lights.

I was under the same impression.

Maybe teams found it was more profitable to buy the board and then keep all the advertising revenue? Or the boards just became too expensive for that to be a viable option.

Doesn't the cost also include the boards for the Convo? So that might cut it down too if that is also included. It seems to me 1.5-1.8 for the football scoreboard seems about right. Seems that NC States is going to be pretty much what we get.

When copying another post is it really necessary to copy all the pictures too? Makes the threads kind of cluttered.
