I started this thread, he was man enough to at least come here and give his side of the story and offered an opportunity for us to discuss it. If you choose to stay in your own microcosm of snide remarks on a message board, that's your decision. Don't bother to call in or tune in next week (in fact, that would be nothing short of a plus for the pending discussion), do what you do best.

Nobody is twisting your arm. I guess you just don't care enough about the UAB program to call in and prove me wrong like Matrix (who I know for a fact bleeds green and gold).

The media won't stop until someone stands up for what they believe in.

Likewise, my friend. Likewise. Mind if I ask you if the podcast of last night's show is available for those who didn't hear what I heard (or misheard) in that conversation about UAB Football, can it be made available for any of our curious observants if not already, please?

I care plenty about the Blazers. I just don't cared about sports radio in Birmingham. Why? Because it generally assumes one of two postures with regard to MY team; ignorance and derision. How anxious would you be to involve yourself in a conversation where your position was either ignored or mocked?

I do more for my team than most fans in this state do for theirs. I hold a degree from UAB. I'm a dues-paying alum. I am a Blazer Booster. I go to the damn games.

With all due respect, I don't get my programs' affirmations from some guy on the radio. Least of all some guy on the radio who's sun rises and sets on the campus to the west.

That last comment was indended for Birmingham radio in general, and not you personally, but if the shoe fits...

Believe me I understand, and I've said it before - I do have a degree from UA, and im a dues-paying Alum as well, I wont hide that. However, the other two hosts of our show are UAB alums.

All I can ask is that before you just let Birmingham radio run off with assumptions (not us but everyone) about your program, I simply hope you would enlighten us with opinions from your end of the spectrum.

Anyone can say I'm begging for phone calls, but in all honesty, I'm not losing my job because you don't call in, so I don't care. But I've always been of the mindset that until someone proves me wrong, I have to imagine I'm right. I just hope the rest of you can enlighten me and the Birmingham market with more than just hiding behind a message board trying to destroy us. I challenge you to do so, but that's up to you.

And to Matrix, I'm on vacation and haven't been able to get it up yet. I'm shooting for Friday.

Next Tuesday, I will be in Troy, Alabama, watching my Blazers play basketball. Our visiting disc jockey obviously knows nothing of UAB basketball.

Because the state's population is so fixated on BCS football and one of its BCS teams might still get a chance to play for a BCS NC, the BOT has been successful in tying UAB Athletics to being anti Crimson Tide, which for some on this BT Board it has become. This has resulted in the shameful exclusion of UAB FB and BB from NORMAL competition on the field and court. Alabama and AU ship millions of their dollars EVERY YEAR to out of state schools while their fans decry how UAB is financed (according to them). Most BCS / SEC schools in the South play nonBCS schools inside their own state, but not in Alabama.

Why is the leadership in our state (and our state's universities) so driven to hinder and trample one of its own? Is it the prevailing anti B'ham passion from the 20th century? Is it the fear that if they take their heel off our neck, we might outperform them in some distant future time? Are they terrified that UAB might become a modern urban university like USF, UCF or FIU and draw several tens of thousands more students than they want to deal with in their artificially controlled enrollment? As the people of the innercity can attest, FEAR is a major driving force for public action, particularly in the suburbs.

Here's some homework for you. Ask how Paul Bryant, Jr. knew the will of the board without meeting on it? Does he have a crystal ball? Did he lie to Kevin Scarbinsky when said he just "knew"? Or has he broken Alabama law?

Siding with their position is one thing. Meeting behind closed doors and yanking it from the agenda is another. It's a criminal act, to be frank.

Why don't you ask why public institutions are in the hands of people who skulk around with no accountability?

I also didn't defend the BoT, and never have. I also didn't say "don't call in", I WANTED people to call in and voice their opinion. I think another co-host said he didn't want to hear complaining of a new stadium when the attendance for the Memphis game (which is supposed to be a rivalry) was poor. I even see posts on here complaining about how bad it was, but yet we're not allowed to point out the obvious? I want to know why UAB fans, on the year when it probably mattered most, didn't show up. Filling up Legion Field is not a realistic expectation, but I would expect more than 10,000 fans to show up for a rivalry game to support the future of this program.

I want every one of you to call in next Tuesday, 9 pm, so we can have a discussion about it.

Last quarter, you guys pulled a whopping 1.3, so don't get too excited.

I have no problem with him posting and I will say he is one of the few to have the balls to actually post instead of just lurk. I actually like the show and he is willing to give us a platform to express our concerns and views.
