You gotta love this argument
"If Rutgers were in Paducah, Ky., this day would have never come." -A. Adelson ESPN.com

Well no chit, and if Texas A&M were in Idaho they wouldn't be in the SEC.

I think the point is, Rutgers has had little to no athletic success (sans this football season) in at least 20-30 years but because they possess strong academics and are located in a good market, they received the B1G invite. There is no denying this.

I think what she's getting at is if the BTN couldn't force their subscriber fees onto the NJ/NY market, this day wouldn't have come.

I love that girl and she's been kind to the BE, but Andrea opened herself up to that one!

The Big Ten really isn't that awesome in football. Rutgers can compete.
If the Big Ten wanted to make the conference better in football they could have
tried to lure 2 SEC teams.

And like I said, if T A&M was in Idaho they wouldn't be in the SEC. If if's and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas.

Never got better in the Big East...why would you get better in the Big 10...Big 10 was just a notch below the Big East in basketball...

How? You can't just take two random teams and try to prove it's a bad fit. What to the Arizona schools have in common with the Washington schools? Arkansas and South Carolina? Iowa St and Baylor? Florida St and Duke? Penn St and Northwestern?

You can make those team comparisons way before this latest round of realignment.

I am not so sure that is true. B1G football is not the SEC and Rutgers has competed well against most B1G schools it has played. There is still some seperation between them and Ohio State and Michigan but everyone else they can likely compete as they are sure to recruit better b/c of the new affiliation.

I personally wish Rutgers well and they have done nothing wrong....even though their actions directly impact my school. Any of our institutions given that opportunity would have done the same. USF has benefited from favorable demographics and geography in the past so who knows....this move may be a good thing for USF in the long term in terms of landing in a 'stable' conference situation one way or another. No sour grapes from this Big East fan.

They all have nothing in common...except they want more Money....that's what it has come to...UC would do the exact same thing as Rutgers...sad but true

What rivalries is Rutgers abandoning in Big East fb? All the Eastern Indies are gone or going.

Of course it's about money, but there's no tradition in the Big East anymore. That's why Rutgers fans are jubilant about today while Maryland fans and alumni are skeptical.
