I am surprised that Navy isn't an option.

The answer is:

a) Whichever school appeases FSU the most, and a fella I speak with indicates FSU prefers Louisville.

I would suspect GT would be against UCONN as well.

Not sad that Maryland is gone... but please do not replace with USF.

Nothing personal, UConn fans... but Louisville is to UConn what Texas is to SMU.

Is SMU a good school? SURE.
Would you rather have Texas? Duh!

Football, meh. Hoops without Calhoun, questionable.......Football fanbase, meh. Recruiting territory, puke.

The ONLY reason that UConn has any support over Louisville is academics. UL is far superior in every other aspect.

UConn has no football history and an off campus stadium too. I think they have a very low ceiling on their program.

ACC hasn't approached anyone about replacing Maryland, but numerous schools contacted ACC about joining ACC, official tells @ESPN

That sounds more like it.

IMHO, Swofford knew that a Maryland departure was a distinct possibility when the UMD President (or Chancellor?) publicly opposed the exit fee increase. He had shown his hand at that moment.

So, w/ that in mind, I have to believe there was a contingency plan. From my "outsiders" view, I hope the plans are:

1) Take Maryland's exit fee and give it to ND in exchange for full membership.

2) If ND insists on "independence", see who FSU wants to be #14.

3) Broker deals with both the B1G and SEC to take UNC/UVA and NC State/VT respectively, then disband this thing and call it day.

I hope it never gets to #3.

RE: CBS Sports: Here's who the ACC is looking at
From the CBS article:

Quote:The Big Ten might look to gobble up more TV markets for a 16-team cable reach, making schools such as Georgia Tech a prime candidate.

And actually, this is stuff I was writing about on my ol' blog about a year ago. Maryland and GT. Fancy that....
