The Negativity is ASTOUNDING
You guys had expectations...

But I thought there were none in this, coach's first year?

Caught ya! :domokun:

Where'd you get those expectations from?

You better get your hind-end back to the Dollar General Kimosabe. 03-idea

RE: PROOF our football is going in the right direction....
True...but:

I had an internal expectation of 4-8. I expected that we would have no problems destroying SELA (check!), win against a yet-to-be determined team (after I saw WKU bag ELLLLLLLLLLLOSS I labeled Southern Miss as that team-check!) and beat Memphis and Tulane, teams that we would be favored against (FAIL!)

We did beat Marshall, which is a very nice win, but Stache is now +1 going into the most majestic finishing holes in all of golf at Pebble Beach. And the wind is about 50 mph. Can he focus the team and turn in a good effort in Orlando? I hope so. As MB said, we're starting the offseason from behind, which means big-time progress must be made in crootin and on the field in winter voluntaries/spring practice. I still believe in the fully-harnessed power of the Stache, but as you pointed out BG, he thinks he can just flash the Stache and make inferior opponents bow down. That doesn't happen until you show them the full power of what this program can do.

What sort of medications are you taking (or should you be taking)?

What are you on about?

I thought it was universal at the beginning of the season that this whole thing in 2012 was cake and ice cream...

So, why so serious?

What's with these "...the end" threads?

I think some peepz saw some things that made them encouraged. And they started to put down their ice cream and cake and cake.

Time to pick it back up and enjoy the sugary sweet taste again.

With some new personnel and a year under coach's belt we'll be fine next year. We might even contend for a bowl.

I confess, "Goat On Fire", that my expectations were unrealistically high. I actually felt in my heart of hearts that in spite of this team's youth & inexperience in some areas, this Coach was going to find a way to get this team into contention for Conference USA this year, considering that the conference was down in football, I thought the schedule was favorable for them as well. All of their conference games were winnable, as we have witnessed, but they blew a golden opportunity to shock the world.

Losing to Tulane and Memphis is unacceptable. Losing to Memphis in a complete meltdown, at home, is beyond unacceptable.

This season has been a disaster. Callaway could have gotten us three wins.

Coach McGee has his work cut out for him. However, I love his attitude and the fact he is promoting this football program to the Birmingham metro and to recruits. I still believe in McGee, and that he will turn things around.

I just pray Legion Field is condemned soon and the dreaded BOT is forced to build UAB an OCS. I don't see it happening any other way.

RE: PROOF our football is going in the right direction....
At the beginning of the year, I expected this to be a 3 to 5 win team. I predicted 4-8. I knew the team was inexperienced. I knew, despite what McGee was selling, that a change in attitude wasn't going to turn this into a 9 win team overnight. I also knew that we were implementing a new system with a new coaching staff. I expected ups and downs. Highs and lows.

That being said, what happened Saturday should never happen. Not against that team. Not in that fashion. I don't know what it is about UAB, but they have never seemed to succeed when they were favored in a game. That is going to have to change. I also hated seeing how many times this team fell behind by double digits before trying to claw back into a game. I felt like I was watching the US play in the World Cup at times. I had no expectations this year, and I think this year needed to happen for the team and the coach. Next year, I expect to see some progress. If we don't, then we know there is a problem.

RE: PROOF our football is going in the right direction....
I don't know about you guys, but I went to the Memphis game.

I have NEVER seen Memphis that fired up about anything in my life. Including basketball...

They were moving with a sense of purpose. Sometimes games can't be won by anything YOU can or should be doing. Sometimes the other guy is gonna take it from you no matter what you do.

Could we have went into this game with a similar sense of purpose and given 110%? I guess it's possible, but it wasn't us who always lost to them, it was them who always lost to us. We didn't take the game seriously (and we need a new QB) and they not only took it seriously they were out for vengeance.

I think it is entirely possible that had you put Notre Dame in Blazer green this past Saturday you would have gotten the same result.

But by all means, lets continue with the preaching about the end of the program as we know it just a week removed from a two game streak over rival USM and budding rival Marshall in coach's first year.

If a loss is a loss then why are you counting a blowout against Memphis and not allowing for a close call against the cream of this league, Tulsa?

Close loss to Tulsa + Blowout loss to Memphis = Fired up Tigers

It does not equal the end of UAB as we know it.

The consistent measuring stick is Tulsa. If you play them close you're not bad, if you beat them you're quite good. If you lose big to them then you're like most others.

I WAS expecting a win against troy , memphis, slu and tulane
3 win is below expectation and the numbers of fans at the games were thinking the same way .
Next year, I expected 6 wins
After that 6 wins is the minimum until HE left or he get fired

The Memphis defense knew what play our guys were going to run before our guys on the field knew. Either there was a big conspiracy or our coaches were too stubborn and too inept to change their play calling patterns. Hopefully our coaches will learn.

Honestly, you guys are insane.

I was a pariah dog for calling for ****** CALL-AWAY's head after the pathetic loser coach had had YEARS to show what he could do and now I'm a pariah again for suggesting we give our brand new coach more than 11 games before we fire him and shut down the program.

The negativity embedded in this "fan base" is nothing short of surreal.

I spoke with a BIG $$$ booster of UAB athletics Sat night at the basketball game and he said that that game against Memphis was the absolute WORST performance by UAB football since way back in the Brown days. Im not sure it was the Worst, but it certainly was one of the sorriest showings of intensity and committment to winning that Ive seen by our football program. Absolutely nothing went our way. Shameful lack of heart and will.

I said 6 wins and with some breaks we would have made it. We have a ways to go but we are not as far away as many think. Maybe we get 6 next season.

I am by no means predicting a win over an excellent UCF team, but by God if we happen to pull the upset I am gonna be serving up big dishes of crow up in this mofo.

Play calling on offense has been VERY predictable the last few games. If was to me, what do you think it was to people who get paid to coach?

As far as adjustments go, I haven't seen much. The 3 man front thing worked against Marshall but I think that had more to do with them than it did us.

We need some more/better players, yes.

BUT we also need some adjustments on schemes and attitudes on the coaching side. I AM NOT SUGGESTING ANY COACH GETS FIRED. I am saying they need to check theirselves. All of them. I still think McGee was the right choice and lots of good teams and coaches have had ****** first years but right now..."You are what your record says you are". PERIOD.

McGee was quoted as saying in the film room, before the Troy game, "How on earth did you lose to these guys?"
I guess next year he ask the guy in the mirror that.

That being said, I will be in Orlando Sat. and I will think we can win until proven otherwise.

Go Blazers!

It may be difficult to know the difference between "expectations" and "hopeful optimism" brought about by the new coach's (coachspeak) rhetoric and an approaching new season. We all wanted so much to be successful in the 2012 season and we had so much change in staff to carry it out, only to have "Lucy yank the football away" again. How much longer will we be "Charlie Brown" every year?

Little Nikki Satan is a loser coach who can't beat UAB or the ULM Warhawks...

O'Leary, who later went on to win CUSA for UCF, was a loser coach because his first year record there was like 0-11 or something, amirite?

The problem with your objective truth is that it is only valid in about year 3. Before that it's all about changing personnel, culture, etc.

Even a Maserati cannot turn on a dime.

If I, who can't play basketball to save my life, was the starting center for Bite Me Tech and our new coach Gene Bartow arrived, would our ensuing "Ofer" season then mean that Bartow was "what his record says he was"?

No, of course not. Obviously he'd replace the oaf at center with recruiting in the off season and the next year would be better than the first.

People, the doom and gloom goes in seasons 3-4 not season 1. There's an objective truth for you.
