I’m going to call this season “The March to Perfection”. Boy, this is a terrible football team.

I am shocked at how poorly this team is playing.

2013 is setting up as a “do-or-die” season for English. This program has taken huge set back this year.

Great call switching QB's. Basically you're telling your team the season is over and Benz is TERRIBLE right now.

Gillette is terrible too. I don’t see any reason to play a QB who was blown out by BSU, ISU, and Purdue. It’s not like Gillette was doing anything as a senior QB. You might as well play the young guy.

Then why the hell didn't Benz beat him out this summer?? Because he wasn't as good, that's why. We made a change for the sake of change, knowing full well that Tyler Benz was not the answer. He stinks.

They both stink. Gillette being terrible is what hurts most as one would have thought a senior would be a decent player. Alas, he is anything but decent.

There is no point in playing a terrible Gillette over a terrible Benz because he is done after this year. With Benz you at least have the faint hope of improvement.

Wow, if I were in Vegas this weekend [I"m not :( ] I'd take the over.

I can see a 35 - 28 type game.

I better call my bookie and tell him that EmuSteve told me to take this sucker bet....

MAC under bets are sucker bets. 03-shhhh

MAC teams are putting up a lot of points again today.

I believe Ohio and Buffalo put up 69 points.

Left the game at the end of the 3rd quarter. Absolutely disgusting performance, especially when you consider it was out of a bye week.

It is not cute and funny anymore: if Ken Karcher is still the OC after this season, I'll be furious. It was so depressing watching the ways Kent used Dri Archer and how they got him in space...why is it so impossible for Karcher to do the same with someone like Bronson Hill, who is almost as (if not equally) explosive as Archer? I need a drink.

Dear Friends,
I have to agree with most of the comments about Eastern's football team. Yes they are terrible, totally inept. I can see a 0-12 season without any trouble. I'm ready to strangle Ken Karcher. How can a team have two weeks to prepare for a game and change nothing. No reverses, no screen passes, no trick plays, just the same predictable offense. On defense, no blitzes, three man rushes, missed tackles, what in the heck is going on?
If, Eastern does end up anywhere between 0-12 and 3-9 English should be fired. How could anyone justify keeping him after four years with that kind of record? Look what Lembo has done at Ball State, Hazell at Kent State. I just don't understand why Eastern cannot turn their program around.

Well Ken, you wanted Benz! Are you happy now? We went from little hope under Gillett to No hope, zero, zilch, nada under Benz!

It's not Benz's fault that this offense didn't move. If Gilette was running the offense, I don't think you'd see things much better either. Again, horrendous blocking from the running game, 0-9 on 3rd downs and a complete lack of any originality on the offense. If you want to fix this team, fire Karcher NOW.

In reality, it might be the only way that English saves his job too...

RE: Unofficial Kent State Game Thread
Dear Bob,
I don't want to create an argument about quarterbacks, however, Gillett is not the answer. This season is lost and Eastern may as well play a quarterback who will be back next year. I will agree that Benz did not look good today, but he wasn't exactly helped by the STUPID play calling of the offensive coordinator. I'm not making any excuses for poor play, but it doesn't help when the defense knows what the coming play is going to be. Sitting in the stands today, I called whether it was going to be a passing play or run at least 80% of the time.
Finally, when Eastern was behind 38-7 going into the fourth quarter, as coach I would have put in as many players as I could for the starters. Give them some experience. Like I have said before, what do we have to lose the game? It was already lost.

It's not Benz's fault the offense didn't move yet it was all Gillett's fault when he didn't score enough! Listen folks, Benz as of now, is not a good QB. Will he be in the future? Maybe, but Alex Gillett gives us the best chance to move the ball NOW because if sh** breaks down, he can run. Lord knows the playcalling isn't going to get better and our upperclassmen receivers are not going to get the job done.

I am so disappointed. I am moving to homefield handicapped side I just can't take anymore of the visitor's cheering around me.

Not only is the play calling terrible, the ENTIRE OFFENSIVE SCHEME is terrible. This team is challenged with X's and O's. The 1980's offense is a joke. EMU does not have enough talent to run this offense - they need more wrinkles. Bring back the Genyk spread!

Sadly, I said this four years ago and was told to STFU.

RE: Unofficial Kent State Game Thread
My first home game of the season and I walked out at the third quarter after seeing one of the worst performances from an EMU team since the late 70s where the opposing MAC teams would score 50 points at halftime. Let me say this to those who hype English recruits-yes guys who hyped Henderson as All World and Cudworth as an NFL player-these guys this season aren't even competent Div I players. Year after year I mention that other MAC teams are outrecruiting EMU and now you're seeing the results on the field. And the coaching-lets bring Alex in and have him run three QB draws in a row-really. Lets have our special teams kick directly to Archer instead of away from him so he can score a touchdown. Lets not be alert on fourth down and let a fake punt happen.
I thought Benz might be the answer at QB after MSU but I thought we might not make a first down the entire first half after the first quarter. Running attack non existent, passing non existent. The poor defense gave it a good shot the first half but the offense kept putting them on the field and this defense isn't that good. And of course at key times penalities. Anyone who saw this game and thinks English and this coaching staff are the answer to bringing EMU football back to life needs to have their heads examined. This game was an epic fail from the coaches and players aspect.
