This is funny, because the same exist (on a smaller scale) with Alaska-Anchorage and Alaska-Fairbanks. Alaska-Fairbanks wants to be called just "Alaska". On their hockey conference http://www.ccha.com, they refer to them as simply "Alaska". But on their olympic sports conference http://www.gnacsports.com, they refer to as Alaska-Fairbanks. Most games that are televised are known as Alaska and Alaska-Anchorage as UAA. but, when ESPN shows up on ticker...it is Alaska-Fairbanks. So, I am confused!!!!!

It would be better for the schools, for the conference, and for the state....to get it settled one and for all. As far as I'm concerned I will call them Louisiana. That's what they want to be called and I'm down with it. University of Monroe would sound pretty good as well.

But it will never be settled so it's a matter of individual taste, and mine is....Louisiana.

Here's a novel idea: The school in Monroe wants to be called ULM....let's call them 'ULM'...

I'm sure you have now given MTPiKapp the cover he needed to use UL when referring to the University of Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. Afterall, he is a man of his word.

Better watch out...the impartial mod will bring the hammer down on you guys....for having an opinion.

I say UL when talking to a cajun who is alright. I say ULL (or Lafayette) when talking to non-cajuns or a cajun who deserves to be trolled.

The reason I say ULL or Lafayette to non-cajuns is they generally won't know who I am talking about if I say Louisiana or UL and I got tired of explaining it.

For me it has nothing to do with legal names, athletic names or any of that non-sense; completely depends on who I am talking to.

Do you guys just sometimes wear the "UL" on the pants? I was looking at pictures from the Lamar game and the pants have a fleur de lis on them.

Might be the new pants have the fleur de lis on them. Gonna have to keep an eye out for that. I tell you what...if Louisville has a problem with us using the interlocking UL...they sure as hell haven't mention it to us. That might be because they are U of L.
