Memphis vs UT-Martin
Tigers lead 10-7 early in the 3rd, but the game is in a delay because of severe weather. Over half the crowd has already left. They are saying 45 minutes-1 hour delay after originally saying 30 minute delay. So this game may get called.

Now as for the game itself. It's not been pretty, BUT, I have seen improvement as far as personel, focus and confidence goes. We still have some issues on both sides of the ball but there's a more cohesive team out there compared to the last 2 years.

It's going to take a couple if not a few years for the Tigers to be competitive on the major BCS level. But it's coming and I noticed some things to convince me of that tonight.

Just to let you know, they never announced the actual crowd as they never got to it, but it sure did look about 3/4 full. And for those of you who don't know, the Liberty Bowl holds 61,000. So I would say around 45,000 max.

It could come close to the Cuse-Northwestern attendance, which would be pretty amusing to me.

Assuming the game doesn't get cancelled.

In other NBE games, Houston is down 24-10 at halftime to Texas State.

Official announced Memphis attendance at the Liberty Bowl tonight: 39,076

Now in a lightning delay, and a lot of people left the stadium, but that's a pretty damn good start, while playing the first game against an FCS team, directly following 3 years of a 5-31 record. I'm encouraged.

If I stayed through the worst weather in the history of weather at the 04 GMAC Bowl, people should stay through this.

(Mostly I'm just jealous I couldn't make it back and don't know if I'll be able to all season.)

Memphis game called, due to severe and persistent lightning. Game will be finished at an unannounced later date. About 7:41 left in 3rd quarter, with Memphis ahead 10-7.

Ain't that some bull??? It's not right for neither team to have to sit for 2 long hours twiddling their thumbs and then be expected to get prepared both physically and mentally in 20 minutes. Damn refs should have just called it. I'm going to be pissed if Memphis now loses because of this.:muttering:

Since it's a CUSA crew, maybe this is their way of sticking it to us for leaving.

Props to anyone that waited that one out.

When the cold gust of wind came through the stadium exactly when the 2nd QTR ended, I knew it was time to head home.

Temperature had to have dropped almost 15 degrees in a second. That's never good.

Forgot to check out the new cafe at the LB.

My buddy wanted to leave, or I might've stuck it out.... major props though.

Yep. About to start warming up again. But at the time, they did announce that it would be finished later.

I don't think whipping us in FB is gonna be a real challenge for awhile. BB will be another story, though. 05-nono
