Memphis

5-7
No bowl
Unranked

New Head Coach Justin Fuente has an uphill battle, but he's got a great coaching staff to help him. Just listening to him, you can tell he's the right guy to turn it around.

Question: How many soon to be ex-CUSA members see UCF winning the east? I mean legitimately and unbiased. You can't get a single rational argument on the OTHER boards

Fiesta Bowl

Does the Fiesta get the last pick this season? I must change my bowl then if thats the case. Good luck this up coming season.

Don't know. Just guessing based on the fact that we brought a good turnout to Phoenix for the Insight Bowl and it's the same bowl committee. I guess it depends on who they get from the Big 12 tho. Rutgers finally making a high major bowl after 143 years of college football would be a great story for any of the major bowls to tell tho.

It's the sugar bowls turn to take us. Orange took wvu last year an fiesta took uconn the year before that

USM is rebuilding. Who else is there in the East? Maybe Marshall? UCF looks like a heavy favorite.

In the West, Houston is somewhat rebuilding. Tulsa is good, but (IMHO) not quite as talented as SMU.

Very possible. I'm not that up on all the East teams, but I don't see any that just stand out as definite favorites. I think Southern Miss will be back to winning 7 games. They lose their QB, both their OTs, Law and Pope and some good DBs. Marshall might not be bad, and I expect ECU to get back to a bowl, but I think UCF can win it if their defense returns to form, and they get good play from Bortles at QB.

Invitation to the Poinsettia Bowl (San Diego, CA) vs our hated Rival BYU.

You'll have to clue us ignorant Boise fans-in... just why is BYU a "hated rival?"

What is the history of this?

PS... I don't picture SDSU losing to Wyoming at War Memorial... perhaps an altitude-enhanced 2nd Half Fade, but not a loss.

Here are a couple of articles to get some info.

http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2011/may/...d-rivalry/

http://www.sdsualumni.org/s/997/index.as...1596&gid=1

We probably hate them more than they hate us. Historically, Fresno State is our biggest rival. As far as Wyoming... they should be decent this year and it will be late in the season... if it is bad weather it will favor the Cowboys... they beat us at Qualcomm last year.

SDSU traditionally has played better in bad weather. That's even more the case now with our emphasis on pounding the rock.

I hope you guys win the East. That would be a perfect ending to our CUSA membership..you in the East and Us in the West (or if not us SMU). I would say it will be between you, S Miss, and Marshall although they could be about a year away. For us, it will all be up to how well our young QB performs. He does not have to be Keenum, but as long as he keeps us in the top 15 offenses we should be in the mix with SMU and Tulsa.

Sure is a lot of CUSA champions on here and a lot of Big East champions too. 04-cheers

I love how all the current CUSA fans think their team will win the conference this year.

Honestly, it's not crazy. 5 teams (UH, SMU, Tulsa, UCF, and USM) all have a legit claim to it. Should be a fun year.

It goes back a looooooong time...

-It involves BYU cheating (Google Chad Bunn controversy)

-BYU ignoring Aztec QB Todd Santos (who was LDS) when he broke the all time NCAA yardage passing record at BYU.

-It includes racial slurs by BYU players against black Aztec players in the 70's and 80's that multiple Aztec players and people on the sidelines heard.

It goes further than those 3 examples, but that gets off to a good start on this topic.

Phluck BYU

For the Aztecs. Anything can happen this year but here is my best guess...

-8 wins minimum.

-10 wins maximum

-35,000 attendance (unless the Aztec promotions actually do something in the community, then 38-40 is possible)

-Poinsettia Bowl invite vs BYU...Over 60,000 for the Poinsettia Bowl history and one of the wildest nights you have ever seen at the Q.

I do not think this team is of the 2010 caliber this year, but I just can't see any of the other East teams being any better. I have a feeling the West is gonna shallack the East in cross divisional play. Our only tough away conference game is Tulsa (not including Marshall because well, the total yardage could be 500-100 in favor of Marshall and we'll still manage to win)

We'll end up in the CCG. Doubt we'll win but we'll make it there.

(Side note. We get a Bye week before we play Mizzou... A lot a of prep time [FIU 9/15, Mizzou 9/29])
