Yeah, I know the rules. What the above means is that JSU will accept an invite to a conference that offers when the time is right. Many of us feel that now is not the right time to go if we were offered and that JSU should work through the current plan and build the facilities to attract the right fit. I have said many times that JSU is not ready yet. We also believe that we should play a few money games and build the recruiting base. We want to win a National Championship at the FCS level. Our programs have a history of winning, and our programs are stable enough to win at the higher level, just like your programs. The OVC is a mediocre FCS conference made for basketball, and that's why we need out. You might even see JSU possibly go to the Southern Conference before we move to FBS.....oh sorry, get invited. We know the basketball and baseball facilities need upgrading, basketball more so, but don't take my words above and misconstrue what I'm saying. Nobody at JSU believes that FBS conferences are just waiting until we upgrade these facilities to offer us, and nobody is sitting around waiting for the SunBelt to come calling. It would be nice to be in the SunBelt, as it would other conferences, but to hear each one of you come here and claim that the SunBelt would "never" offer JSU is pretty arrogant. The SunBelt offered Troy, USA, MTSU, and Ark State at one time, but they would never offer JSU? As if you guys all have an "in" within the SunBelt...

Wow I see some guys arguing about location on the Jax board and comparing to Troy.

First of all Troy is less than an hour from two of the biggest cities in Alabama (Dothan and Montgomery). Troy has campuses in both of these cities and Troy Montgomery is one of the most popular in the city. You don't have to look far to find Troy University Student tags while driving in Montgomery.

Jacksonville has next to no interest in Atlanta or Birmingham. So if you cute little guys want to quote me then tell the whole story I'm not afraid of you guys passing us by nor are South fans. I just don't want to see you guys move up yet because Alabama's population as a whole is small and it already forces UAB, South, and Troy to turn to junior college recruits. Diluting the talent even further just hurts us all and that would hurt the Sun Belt.

And second why in the world are they arguing about how a campus looks. Logically if you root for a school your automatically going to put your school above another school. I have taken classes at three different schools and I don't have any solitary allegiance to Troy.

When I got here I thought it was small and needed some major work and guess what happened. If you haven't been in two years the school has undergone a major facelift and by next fall just about everything will finally be D1 standard and enrollment is increasing every year it won't be long before we have 10k on the main campus.

In summary I know you Jax fans are reading this. Get it of your head that Troy fans have some kind of complex to keep you guys down. Your in the position you are in because of your own faults not ours. And these discussions themselves are silly, your not in the same conference or level as Troy anymore end story. FCS fans have been really going crazy lately.

Oh sure you and I are establishing respect for one another, but that doesn't mean I respect Jacksonville State.

As far as the "Whup Jax State" signatures, I hardly think "everyone" has them. I believe two folks have 'em and those two are members of the Sound from long ago.

If you go to Troy's campus and ask students about Jax State you will get either a blank stare or a shug. The only people who even realize we used to be rivals are the die hards on GTT who have been around since the rivalry was still going. So my post over there was accurate, our younger generation of fans know nothing about yall and don't even acknowledge yalls existence. If you ask a Troy student who our rivals are they will tell you MTSU and UAB.

Jax State is an afterthought.

Also....I wanted to apologize to ManOnABuffalo for my comment regarding dumbasses riding Buffalo's. Hey, when I'm wrong I admit it and will man up. It is in fact a shame that market size has replaced quality product as the most important factor. I'm happy Troy made our move when we did, our market is too small to attract any FBS Conference today it seems. I'd hate for the world not to be able to enjoy my Trojans because we were stuck in FCS.

Fair point....you must also know that Troy is, as well, an afterthought amongst the students and most everyone but the diehards, maybe except for the band because it will always be a rivalry...Troy and JSU have the best bands in the state. People don't go around the campus greeting each other with a head nod and saying, "whup Troy", but the band for the most part has kept it around. That part will never go away and it is part of JSU's tradition they decided to keep around, as it's more of a shout out to the old days JSU had with Troy's band. My parents couldn't wait to come to the JSU/Troy game just to hear the battle of the bands every year...JSU was sad to see that go when you guys moved up.

We could not care less if Jax State fans think about us. We are an FBS program who wins Conference titles and bowl games. The fact that an FCS programs' fans don't think about us is of no importance.

As far as the bands go, you're right. We DO have the best in the State, maybe two of the best in the Southeast. I know the Sound of the South is incredible and we always get compliments from the SEC fans when we travel.

Our current band rival is MTSU's Band of Blue. That is always a good one at the Palladium Game.
