Spring Game
When is the spring game? I haven't been to it in awhile - but are they back to doing a full scrimmage game. I think they re-started this under Beckman with alumni coaches and the players drafting the teams.

Not sure why they keep having these games on Friday night at 7PM instead of Saturday afternoon. We'd get better attendance.

Also seeing that a number of MAC schools are having their scrimmages open to the public. Not UT. This all started with Beckman.

RE: Spring Game
It is April 13th, and I will double check the time. I think it's around 5:00 PM ( the 13th-14th is Dance Marathon which starts at "7:12 PM")

Also, for those who didn't see who are UT Students, this Wednesday the football program will be doing a "fantasy camp". I know I will be there!!

GO ROCKETS!

Friday the 13th??? I'd move it to Saturday just on the fear of being ridiculed by the fans if somebody gets hurt in that game... 03-wink

RE: Spring Game
I'm getting more excited everyday. I'm hearing that the running backs and receivers will be as good or better than last year with more weapons on the field at one time than we even had last year. We can also line up with a big package and blow people off the ball. Put that all together and I see many points in our future. Also hear defense is coming together and will be much improved over last year. Will see you all Friday night at 7 to see our 2012 version of the Rockets.

RE: Spring Game
minus freshman... I think we'll have 1 or 2 who produce, or at least play their fair share this season. So the Spring game + incoming Freshman.... I think Toledo will be an 11 or 12 win team.

Love the enthusiasm, but I would ask where all of these new weapons were last year. We will have redshirt freshmen coming in who will be making that big an impact? We have some major talent to replace, plus we have a new coaching staff.

I'm not quite as optimistic, but I'll be very happy if you guys are right.

RE: Spring Game
We have a couple players who will play other [new] spots and are showing great skills so says my friend who has seen it. Therefore, Tol FT 1st, I think you may be surprised. Yea you are correct, some redshirts are looking good also so I hear. Trust in Campbell. I almost puked when I typed it, but always one to be controversial. haha By the way, only half a new staff and improvements made there also.

RE: Spring Game
Macon was apparently the first pick in draft for the game.. Does anyone know who other top picks were? This would appear to mean the players believe that Macon will be a playmaker this year--most likely as a WR and not as a QB.

First pick, but for what position? Maybe QB?

Regardless, that is interesting. Not Flu, not Reedy, but Macon. Hmm!

RE: Spring Game
We have seen his athletic abilities. Macon was a successful QB in a a very successful HS program. That in itself says he probably has leadership capabilities that are recognized by teammates and is just "that" guy people want to hang with. When the bat toss is won, first pick has more to do with who you want on your team, worry about position after the team is picked. Works on the playground. I imagine it works in a Spring Game.

Rocket 75 ---yes. Toledo 1st---no. eastisbest---kind of. But position had alot to do with it if I was guessing. I cant wait for Friday. The NEW and I believe improved Rockets will be on the field. May they all stay injury free.

Last Spring, Page-an All American Kick Returner and Mancz-a Freshman All-American were the #1 and #2 picks. I've heard Macon's had a big
Spring-big plays. This Rocket team has tremendous speed. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Rockets put up about 50 points/500 yds+ per game and be a top 40 team defensively. How many MAC program are adding
3 players that were top 15 by position nationally, another that was the #1 player in the state, plus their recruiting class?

I remember asking Coach Beck at one of the coaches shows what he thought Macon brought to the table..... he showed uncharacteristic respect to Macon's talents,it was his facial response.
Evidently with Page and Co. he didn't need this ACE.
We will.04-cheers

I was actually thinking about Macon today regarding what may be expected. It seems to me that he is very competitive, dependable, and very athletic. I agree. He may very well become a big contributor.

I am pretty excited about the spring game. I wonder what we will be able to take from the O-Line, since the likely 5 starters will be split. Is the two deep pretty even? Anyone know?

Go Rockets!!

Ok, who is going to the game tomorrow? Who is tailgating? Is the corner between the Glaa Bowl and tennis courts available or have they started construction in that area? Myself, the wife, rents and uncle will be down there but probably not till 4-4:30.
