Master list of D-I hoops transfers
Pretty long list. Some have new schools. Most do not.

Ditto for Steve, he contributes to this board every day. Like Isaid, he is the recruiting guru and much more. Kudos to Steve! Keep finding all this good stuff!

What I find, sometimes by accident, is what is out there.

I can't say where Talley or Brundidge will transfer to presumably because the information isn't out there yet (to be found).

Having said that, I hope Dennis culls through the list of transfers and comes up with a short list of possible EMU targets. 03-cloud9

Tommie McCune, transferring from West Virginia, is a Saginaw native, I believe. Just blindly throwing his name into the pot.

I'm with Steve in the hopes of getting Talley. While he will have to sit out a year, he's a true PG who showed some game at Duquesne against some stout competition. The A10 is a borderline BCS conference when it comes to hoops. They get 3-4 bids a year in the tourney.

RE: Master list of D-I hoops transfers
Looking thru the list and found a 'Cuse player, Mookie Jones, SF.

Seems he played only the 1st semester of his junior year and could have 1 1/2 years of eligibility left.

Normally he should have transferred in January.

RE: Master list of D-I hoops transfers
Here is another list by the master, Jeff Goodman.

I read somewhere that coaches bug the hell out of him begging: "when is your list going to be ready..."

http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketba...st-edition

BTW, I bet coaches like the players who will graduate and be immediately eligible to play one year (esp. big men).

This is your classic 'quick fix.' 03-idea

RE: Master list of D-I hoops transfers
WOW - NEVER SEEN SO MANY TRANSFERS IN ONE YEAR - DOUBT EVEN HALF OF THEM WILL FIND NEW SCHOOLS TO PLAY FOR. A LOT OF SCHOOLS HAVE ALREADY PLEDGED THEIR ALLOTED SCHOLARSHIPS . COULD BE A LOT OF WALK ONS.

WHY HAVE SO MANY OF THESE TRANSFERS MADE THE INITIAL MISTAKE OF SIGNING WITH THE WRONG SCHOOL TO BEGIN WITH?

PT IS A BIG ISSUE AS WELL AS WANTING TO BE CLOSER TO HOME

Anthony Fields a Michigan high school point guard whom I believe Ramsey recruited but went to prep school is now transferring from Wake Forest.

I saw where Steve Bell had the story.

Is he a MAC-level player?

Anyone?

This is where a program can really hit the jackpot IF they have open scholly's at this time of year.

You guys have 2 still for 2012 correct? WMU = none left

Heck, one of our posters just mentioned that we have had 1 transfer come on board in the last nine years. Redell from Cleveland St. Any others were juco guys.

I'd rather see you guys get players like Talley or Brundidge than Detroit or Oakland. A stronger MAC benefits all of us.

Ramsey and Co did recruit Fields. He apparently went to prep school and is probably a mid major prospect at best. Apparently had a good prep school year and signed over his head with Wake Forrest. Propably a MAC player. He prepped at Lake Orion early in his HS career. P.S. Would rather have Brundage or Talley preferably.

Yes, the assumption is 2 although I'm not sure we'll give 2.

BTW, some folks here don't like transfers or maybe too many transfers, but UDM is getting fat on WMU and CMU (e.g., Chase Simon) transfers.

Maybe you know how many MAC transfers UDM has had in recent years (I know that is a sore subject for WMU fans).

RE: Master list of D-I hoops transfers
Lowe and Howard from WMU

Simon from CMU.

Holman from Indiana.

Those are the only 4 from their roster this year. Unless you count JC guys...Anderson and Minnerath.

In short, they seem to do their best recruiting after their players graduate from high school and start college.

Heck, I wouldn't be shocked if Ray Sr. offers Ernie a job as long as Trey comes in a package deal.

(sore subject is an understatement)

A quick look at their rosters from the last 4 years.

4 D I transfers
10 Juco guys
2 guys from Citrus College and Delta College
2 guys from prep schools

See a trend? They don't recruit high school well. They do really well with guys who aren't happy with their current situation and/or have issues with grades.

Are you saying that a program can recruit D-I transfers and get to the NCAAs? 03-idea

I have no problem if Murphy continues to bring in D-I transfers (I basically consider D-I transfers more or less 'known commodities' whereas JUCO ball is a crap shoot).

Yes, Earnie and Trey are interesting.

Apparently Trey and Ray Jr. bonded very well as h.s. seniors.

I could see Ray Jr and Trey being a backcourt for UDM.

RE: Master list of D-I hoops transfers
Not at all. I'd like WMU to get a good transfer here and there. The juco route has been more dangerous for us.

However, without looking, I'm willing to bet that EMU hasn't approached 18 players in the last 4 years that did not follow the traditional high school to college route and stayed in one place.

Here is another stat, in the previous 3 years, Detroit has had 10 players leave their program for various reasons before their eligibility expired. That number does not take into account this last season.

If I were EMU, I wouldn't have a problem with D I transfers either. However, I would have a problem if 18 players came in over a 4 year span from non traditional high school recruiting efforts AND 10 players in a 3 year span left or got kicked off the team.

That's an extremely high turnover rate.

Now, if EMU got Lowe and Howard from us...I'd be singing a different tune about you guys :)

(yeah, still bitter over here)
