Championship weekend scores
Denver 3, Michigan Tech 2 (OT)

Michigan Tech eliminated from postseason consideration.

Slight ding to NMU's RPI, extending our lead over them from .0027 to .0032.

North Dakota plays St. Cloud later tonight. St. Cloud must win out to make the tournament. North Dakota winning is fine with us.

Bronconick....Why don't we mind ND winning? What effect does SCSU have on us if they win.....I know one of the players on their team. However, wouldn't want them to win if it hurts us. Thanks

If SCSU happens to win 3 games in a row, they'll steal a bid and lower the cut line.

Meaning WMU would need to finish lower than 15. St. Cloud would be #15 and the Atlantic Hockey winner would be #16.

North Dakota winning would eliminate another Cinderella

This. The other side effect is like Tech, St. Cloud will have a positive impact on NMU's RPI if they win, as they swept St. Cloud, while we only split with them. (The irony in all this is that NMU losing to BG has kept them alive. If they had advanced and been swept by Western, they would not be able to pass WMU under any circumstance.)

Also, North Dakota is 11th right now and the only way we catch them is to win both our games this weekend.

At that point, I could care less about every other game played.

If you feel like watching behind the scenes WCHA hockey instead of bouncy hoops. Pretty much all their cameras, from what I can tell.

Exactly.

I wish we would have played better on Saturday's in January and February; to put us in the position where we could cheer for Tech, BGSU and St. Cloud.

Alas, we're stuck with the cards in our hand, and any cinderella at this point could screw us out of a bid.

Actually I pay the extra 4.95/month to my Comcast cable and get all the various Fox Sports channels. Watching the ND/SCSU game as we post.

Another party crasher goes down.

North Dakota beats St. Cloud 4-1

Edit: UND added another ENG after I originally posted. Game much closer than score would indicate

Has anybody seen this yet? CHN's pairwise live blog.

Quote:Assuming those 12 teams all make it, that leaves three at-large spots up for grabs, barring upset champions. Cornell and Western Michigan can both greatly improve their chances of making it with a win tonight, although neither of them lock up a spot with a win alone. Likewise, neither can be knocked out with a loss.

I still think we're good if all the upset winners go down tonight, as a loss to Michigan won't hammer our RPI down. That's not looking good atm, though. 3-0 Harvard.
