When the Dems in South Carolina said that the problem was transportation. That poor people had difficulty getting to the DMV (but they can get to the polls????), the governor of SC set up a 1 day program where a government vehicle would come to your house, pick you up, take you to the DMV, where you would get a free ID. The vehicle would wait for you. None the less, the excuses still poured in.
Only 22 people used it IN THE ENTIRE STATE. Most of the calls to the DMV (675) simply asked how to get the card.

Mighty nice of Gov. Nikki to offer to get these people a ride on a WEDNESDAY morning. All they would have to do is arrange time to get off work, round up all of their documents on short notice, and wait for the ride to show up.
I was under the mistaken impression that the Repubs wanted less government intrusion in our lives. What happened to that concept?
Haley, the Tea Party darling, is on very rocky ground here in SC due to her idiotic handling of the Savannah River Port (basically pimping SC in favor of Georgia) for what is suspected to be a considerable cash donation to her re-election fund. Haley is going to be a 1 term flame out.

She offered the rides to the DMV free. They received 675 calls, the majority of which were asking how to get the free ID.
22 people used it.
Which proves that this is TOTALLY POLITICAL. They want the issue, they don't want solutions.
National Poll: Rasmussen
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_c...riminatory
Quote:Seventy percent (70%) of Likely U.S. Voters believe voters should be required to show photo identification such as a driver’s license before being allowed to cast their ballot. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 22% oppose this kind of requirement.
80% favor pictured ID's in TN
http://tnreport.com/blog/2012/02/29/opin...er-id-law/
http://theiowarepublican.com/2012/iowa-d...s-to-vote/
Quote:An overwhelming majority of Iowans believes voters should display a photo ID before they cast a ballot. A new poll released by the Legacy Foundation shows 76 percent of Iowans support the requirement. That includes almost 59.5 percent of Iowa Democrats.
A South Carolina official claims 953 ballots were cast in that state by dead people.

Oh the mocking tones, with bold and emoticons, that means Dip has nothing, once again, he's resorting to his typical tactics.

I'll just say make some inanely stupid statement like "resorting to his typical tactic," or maybe mention Limbaugh, and hope nobody notices, that I got nothin..........nothin

BACK ON TOPIC
Interesting in the southern states that just passed the id law for voting, none of those laws were in effect today for their primaries.
Why?

Let's use your noodle here.
One party wants to let anyone vote, without picture ID, meaning as demonstrated by the New Hampshire video (registered 12 times under dead people), that the Dems want less oversight.
The Republicans want MORE oversite so these kinds of shannigans don't occure.
Since most primaries require you to have registered with a party, it's not really a big deal in primaries.

Let's vet your Hooterville logic here, general elections require you to be a registered voter, it's not really a big deal to have picture id's when you've already completed the registration process and go to the designated voting place in your precinct and give your name. The margin for error or risk for fraud is miniscule.
Again, it's a democrat thing, and not all states (Including the one you live and vote in) require you to be registered with a party. Even if you are, why not a picture id if it's so darned important? Their sense of urgency for these thirty or so Republican controlled states wasn't to have these laws in effect for the primaries, it was for the general election.
Gosh. Wonder why?

The latest Rasmussen poll, which I linked earlier shows over 70% of Americans prefer the Hooterville logic. Considering that the vast majority of Americans live in major metro areas I'd say it goes well beyond Hotterville.

Rasmussen!!!
You citing Rasmussen as proof positive that you are on the right side would be like me citing an MSNBC poll. No bias there. :domokun:

Okay, if you want to think what happened 4 years ago applies to now, fine. Nixon won in a landslide, and went out like a lamb. Obama didn't even win in a landslide, and he's got a record that is beginning to drag him down in the polls to areas where no incumbent has every won reelection.

I don't see how requiring ID to vote is a bad idea. The potential for fraud is considerably greater by not requiring it. And really, how offensive is it to be asked for your id? Not at all - unless you have something to hide or are up to something.
Sometimes common sense doesn't have a chance in this country.

Rasmussen and Gallop have called more elections than any poll out there. Do you even think before you type this chit?

You'll discount elections and site sketchy polling groups as "proof positive" for your argument, you're a piece of work.

That's backwards, people already are registered to vote, requiring someone to have an id is an artificial way of eliminating a class that doesn't necessarily have access to official id's, it's not solving any existing problem and even opens up the door to more risks than the current process has in place.
I think we should make it easier to register, and have a roster with an id provided during the registration in place at the polls.

Sketchy polling groups? Rasmussen is probably the most reputable poll there is today.
I have yet to find even an obscure poll that wasn't completely lopsided towards showing a pictured ID. You ignore the video of the guy in New Hampshire who is allowed to register 12 times under different dead people's names.
Quote:I think we should make it easier to register, and have a roster with an id provided during the registration in place at the polls.
So what's to stop someone from doing what the guy in New Hampshire did. He goes to 12 polling places, he has a dozen names of dead people, and he's given a ballot in each place. So what if they take his picture. The documentation shows him to be a dead guy.
