Temple should have never been kicked out of the BE.

I'm glad we've got another all sports member. Should make for an interesting rivalry with Nova.

Temple to the Big East completes the original Tagliabue plan of having a football presence in Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston and Orlando.

West: Houston, TCU, Louisville, Cincinnati, USF, UCF
East: West Virginia, Temple, Syracuse, Pitt, Rutgers, UConn

With a few of the planned names gone it opened up the door for Memphis, SMU, Boise, SDSU and Navy.

At UH, we had always heard Tagliabue was very high on Houston as an expansion candidate from the beginning.

The conference outlined above would have been very salty.

Agreed very good conference although I'd have given thought to adding Boise for football only out west and ECU back East or maybe Boise and BYU both football only.

Keep in mind that because of the negotiations with the MAC, school officials cannot and will not confirm anything. Just a CYA PR move. Temple's in. Too many other details to come out for them not to be at this point.

If Temple does join the BE, I am curious to see what the MAC and A10 do. Does Xavier and St. Louis look for a quick exit, do they all go after CAA teams, should be interesting.

The MAC will be fine - even if UMass decides to leave (although I doubt they will after signing their deal with Gillette Stadium). The A10 might look to add Butler or Xavier, but who knows?

Temple was never... a full member of the BE. Just football only

That was the Big East fault for they should have been pushing for all sports membership instead of pushing them out the door.

Congrats to Temple. I am always happy for a school who is able to better themselves, but it is quite amusing to watch the BE pillaging these Non-AQ conferences, all the while crying about WVU leaving for the Big XII. Total hipocrasy going on here... Maybe the MAC will demand, say 20 million to allow Temple to leave.

I think that a much more committed Temple belongs in this version of the Big East. However that version of Temple was never going to be able to compete in that version of the Big East. This is Temple's day and I have no interest in pissing on their parade so I'll leave it at that.

Congratulations to the Owls!

This is true. Temple football has never beaten a MAC team with a winning record and NO Temple fan will dispute that statement because they know its true. The rate they were going they could have been kicked out of the Big East AND the MAC.

You could accurately state that Temple didn't defeat any MAC team that finished the season with a winning record while a member of the MAC. What you wrote isn't correct. Of course, based on what I've seen you post on the MAC board, you aren't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. So your error isn't terribly surprising.

LOL, sorry, Temple has never defeated a MAC team "that finished the regular season" with a winning record.

In other words, any MAC team "that finished the season with 6+ wins" beat the stuffing out of Temple every year for years and years.

Better?

Temple *has* defeated a MAC team that completed the season with a winning record. However, they didn't do that while a member of the MAC. Do you see the difference between my statement and what you wrote? It isn't complicated.

As for the chest puffing, hey go for it. It isn't bothering me. In fact, Miami fans have, by far, the most to brag about among MAC fans.

Miami hasn't done much in several year. He's probably upset they're clearly a hockey school now.

The latest reports have the MAC demanding a "premium price" for Temple leaving early.

I'm not sure if that is going to be 5, 10 or 20 million for Temple's departure from the MAC but the MAC plan is to use the money to subsidize bowl game ticket guarantees to alleviate that responsibility for the member schools.

It will be the first time a non-BCS conference has picked up such a large windfall for a school leaving. Kudos to the MAC for signing Temple to a large exit fee.

We were just MAC Champions in football exactly one season ago, which isn't exactly "several years" ago. And yes, our hockey program is real good too.
