Their wins and their SOS are a bigger deal that what happened last year. Teams have been left out before after really good years. If I remember correctly Syracuse was left out the year after their national championship.

RE: UC in RPI Rankings
What you did last year always helps. I think the name value of UConn and VCU will help them get in. After the fight, Cincinnati could make for an interesting story; however, ESPN might want that story to play out in the NIT.
If UC wins two more games, I'll be happy because thats where this team's talent should have them at in the conference. If its NIT, I hope we never schedule like we did again.

If UC misses the tournament whoever is responsible for the schedule, either AD or coach, has to take responsiblity. We should NEVER be in a position where 10 BE wins isn't good enough to be an NCAA team.

Regardless the schedule needs to improve and I believe we have an AD in place now that understands that spending the money for the better buy games can only help the basketball team down the line and make it easier to make the NCAAs and we will spend the money to improve the schedule. I think Thomas was too worried about the budget while Whit will find the money to make this happen.

So tired of hearing about how bad the out of conference schedule is... Nothing has been beaten to death as bad as that this year - not even the fight. It is simply a $ issue.

If it keeps UC out of the NCAA tournament it's an even bigger $ issue - potential lost $.

Hypothetical: Had we not lost to Presby and Marshall, would we be a lock now?

Yes. Probably as a 7-9 seed. The OOC schedule was still terrible, but at least they wouldn't have lost (outside of Xavier).
The better question is, if they had the same record but with a 122 OOC instead of a 322, could they be as highly seeded as Louisville (who is a 5 in the latest projections)?

Amen.
10 wins in the Big East and not making the NCAA Tournament = no excuses. Whoever is to blame should step up.

Guessing if we get left out due to SOS schedule the blame will be put on MT and the tight budget as he can't really defend himself. Easy scapegoat although we all now others had to sign off on that schedule too.

The one that sticks with me is that OT loss to WVU. That one goes the other way we are a lock now

Like the coach. AD's don't schedule by themselves. I'm a MC fan but he has publicly defended the light scheduling as part of working out the kinks for the BE schedule.
Problem is, this isn't SEC football--and light scheduling actually matters. It gives us no wiggle room in conference play, which is always brutal. I'm thinking Mick and Whit will make sure this isn't a such a drastic issue in the future.

Yes. UC's problem is they scheduled a horrid non-conference and then proceeded to loss games they shouldn't have.
