Right here. I feel for the people of Utah because to them this is a big deal and that makes it a big deal but sometimes change can be painful like that.
Right now Utah is moving in a direction of what is good for Utah and due to BYU's special circumstances that they insist must be in place....BYU likely cannot move on and up in the same direction as Utah.
Now BYU has to find a way to bring their relevance up to a level where Utah cannot ignore them.
I would think that with the New Big East will lie a much easier scheduling situation for BYU than the Big 12 would be. That is where BYU should look in my opinion. Increase their nationwide appeal and then perhaps Utah will see an increased value in a BYU/Utah rivalry.
But the B12>BE and BYU thinks they are awesome so they'd prefer the Better conf. Right now they think they're ND who is above conferences(in their mind)
Big 12 representatives have already told us their Eyes are looking to the East these days.
Whatever talks were there with BYU in the past are likely not happening with nearly the fervor they might have had in past months.

The problem is BYU thinks they are above all. Let them suffer as far as I am concerned. The problem is I am in a big Mormon community and a lot of fans are completely heartbroken right now. It means the world to them. So even though I could care less about BYU as a school, I feel for their fans.

Can't pin this on BYU, as far as I can tell. They could have stayed in the MWC, or joined the Big East or the Big 12 or the SEC, and the Pac-12 would still be pushing them to drop the rivalry game.

No. BYU has been on this God complex for a while now. And all they have done is burn bridges and make themselves look like a bunch or dickheads. Do not let anyone fool you. This little fit BYU has had over the last few months is pure jealousy of Utah. The fact they left SDSU, New Mexico, and UNLV to play basketball in a 3000 seat gym shows how completely retarded the clowns running that place have became. If a desperate Big East shakes their heads and walks away.............I can only imagine the dip$hit demands they asked for.
Utah has beat them like a stepchild 2 years in a row. Utah is not scared of BYU. If Utah wanted that game they could have it. This is Utah's way of saying "For the last few decades you have did nothing but bad talk us and our fans, You have did nothing but complain about the way our fans and students act. So Go **** yourself and goodbye!"

Here's an article on BYU/Big East negotiations. (can't confirm if the article is legit or not) Not exactly the smartest thing to piss off two teams in BSU and Notre Dame who vouched for them and have a number of games scheduled with them in the future.

Whorn is welcome to their "big rivalry" with OU...which never managed to draw the numbers we did in any sport anyway.
We have two old and much more fun rivalries in A&M vs LSU and A&M vs Arkansas to enjoy now!

yeah byu does have a 'god complex' and they have made a bunch of enemies for no good reason. part of that good ol' mormon charm, i guess.
still a fact that byu has bcs-quality facilities, fan support, coaching salaries, + media-interest. unless big xii is content to fall behind pac-12/sec/big-10/acc, they'd be stupid not to make a deal with byu.
Quote:Utah has beat them like a stepchild 2 years in a row. Utah is not scared of BYU. If Utah wanted that game they could have it.
rivalry goes in cycles
byu has had eras of domination and so have the utes. fan support in the state of utah is overwhelmingly in byu's favor
byu could sell out their stadium (60,000) playing sun belt and c-usa teams
utah will draw a big crowd for good pac-12 opponents and a little crowd for bad pac-12 opponents
salt lake city is a great place but uu athletics is just not a big deal there unless the team is undefeated or something like that

RE: BYU and Utah rivalry ends for now.
It is quite possible that the Utes are banking on membership in the PAC raises their cred within the state of Utah. If BYU truly has pissed off Boise State and Notre Dame then that is going to hurt BYU in scheduling where as Utah is strengthening in scheduling by having a PAC12 conference schedule. The Utes are going to find it much easier in the OOC scheduling department. Now is a perfect time for them to gain some ground on BYU in the state.

I'll make the connection...
TAMU is tired of UT's sh!t. UU is tired of BYU's sh!t.
No fan bases are harder to put up with than UT's and BYU's, and no athletic departments are more arrogant.

Couldn't have said it better myself!
ALL of us are tired of their sh!t, even those of us who have been their rivals/conference mates forever.
OU, OSU and Tech all still want to be in the PAC. KU, KSU and ISU would harvest and sell their grandma's organs for a B1G invite.
CU, NU, A&M and MU were all just fortunate enough that we had enough value to write our own tickets out of the B12. Had the PAC agreed to take OSU and OU when they wanted out too, there would be no more B12.
Sure, every conference has it's big egos, but they also have competent commisioners who keep those egos in check. Ohio State is unquestionably the B1G's marquee program right now, but you don't see the Buckeye's being allowed to run the conference as they please.
Utah is similarly thrilled to be emancipated from BYU and allowed to chart their own course.

Tx-OU never drew A&M numbers? Laughable. You might have outgained it on ratings as the thanksgiving game was often unopposed in its time slot and Tx-OU is a midday October game. Technicality at best.

Well said 10th. I like the addition of West Virginia to the Big 12 but I'm still holding out hope for a PAC invite.
