UTEP has history with UNM, Wyoming, Colorado State, and Air Force. Not as much with Tulsa. Even less with the newer MWC schools. That history everyone refers to was with Utah, BYU, and San Diego State. There is nothing really tying us to the current MWC. Again, I have no proof or links, but I don't see Memphis, UAB, or USM tying themselves to eastern anchors for the sake of being in an eastern time zone conference.

I don't see USM leaving a league where they're located in the center of and near of most of their rivals to be an outlier in a league that #1, isn't any better and #2, has have no history with USM. Also those "eastern anchors" are massive population bases, something that's few and far between in the west, therefore making a good TV deal that much more difficult.

Would you rather have Navy or Temple?

I would say just for geography regarding ECU, I would pick Navy.
I'm obviously bias but I'd take Navy. However, Navy, Army, or Temple are all solid candidates. I'm just not sure if any of those three would accept an invite at this point. USU is probably next in line unless we just stay at 17 for now.

I'd say USU is next in line IF we lose another western school to the Big East, which we probably will.

Unlikely but it looks cool. :)

No UTEP? **** you!

Sorry, Mistabinks...lol.

I really do like UTEP but I decided to put Rice ahead of them due to the Houston market/academics.

Why is Northern Illinois with their huge market and recent football success not being considered... IMO if CUSA added Temple, NIU, and La Tech that would make CUSA a pretty salty football conference... And just leave CUSA at 12 teams, if this is done, MAC is crippled, MWC is on its last leg and WAC is no more!

Fresno and Hawaii though? Whew. Good thing the east schools have hardly any influence on the conference anymore.

Go Miners!

Last I checked our little unknown program has never been demoted to FCS because we were in financial ruin. What time period are you talking about when you guys were finishing with all these rankings and being a "major independent?" Last time I checked we were finishing top 10 and winning Peach Bowls while you guys were still stuck in FCS purgatory. I wouldn't have a problem with UNT, but you try to paint this picture like you are some sort of power and you have been to 5 bowls in history and were forced to leave FBS because you couldn't cut it financially. You don't want to mention anything that happened from 1979 on conveniently.

Memphis is 16-4 against UNT, including a New Orleans Bowl victory in 2003.

RE: CUSA/MWC map - 2nd attempt
No offense to the MWC folks or anyone else out west, but I would like to see C-USA extend invites to three eastern seaboard schools, ie Temple, UMASS, and Navy (obviously if we're wishing) and call it a day. After we get turned down by them, GSU, La Tech, and FIU and there are a few more mentioned in this thread that would work I suppose. I'm just not sold on this merger, seems MWC needs C-USA more than we need them? I do know I would love to shoot down to Hotlanta every other year for a football game. Maybe they are on the radar...

If you say so panama. I was stationed in Tidewater for many years, it's just a big commuter school ie giant community college, I was not impressed. When I was up there they were an after thougt behind anyone else you can think of and I mean everyone. Hell East Carolina has a huge following up there, never saw ODU fans, ever.
I was just thinking LaTech because they actually do have somewhat of a football history, it isn't awesome, but it is football history.

ODU would be a good add. I just wish they were already FBS. I'd assume they didn't have the football program when you were stationed there. They've only had one for 3 years now I think. They've been REALLY good in that time too. 27-8 record over those 3 years and there's a waiting list for season tickets. They just need to expand but they still draw more fans than a lot of CUSA schools right now. They've also got very solid basketball and ECU needs somebody close by badly.

What year was that? Because right now they sell out every game and have 3k people on their waiting list for season tickets and have a budget that is DOUBLE La Tech. How is this even a question?

I rotated out in '02 so yeah that was way before they were rolling with football. It's not a question, I remember them ten years ago being a huge commuter school that didn't even register as existing with the local population. I mean ZERO. Things change, obviously, but I haven't been up that way in ten years like I said.

RE: CUSA/MWC map - 2nd attempt
You guys are serious about ODU? Are we going to only play them in DFS? They can't accomidate the number of Pirates that would flood that tiny little stadium. It doesn't even seat a full 20k. One side of DFS is more than that and in '16 we're going up to 58k. One huge thing that has to be taken into consideration is facilities, and I'm saying that for selfish reasons, because we travel well and fill up the visitors sections of the stadiums we visit and then some, if you're not in Texas that is. If they are a serious candidate I hope they have a serious facility upgrade plan because when the Pirates come to town we are going to own that stadium.

PuddlePirate maybe you should take a look at their facilities. They equal almost everyone in CUSA...

ODU Facilities

Their basketball is always good in the CAA.

ODU facilities are pretty badass them and Temple would be perfect additions IMO. Get Utah State on the other side and that is a very good basketball conference.
