Damn I didn't even know pUNT was actually FCS for a good long while. He was getting on La Tech for listing FCS accomplishments, but then again from what I see it doesn't look like they accomplished anything there so I see why he would do that. 05-stirthepot

Been playing forever and a 2-5 bowl record??? Beating the big boys when? An that was directed at on UNT poster not a flame against all. If you have to start denigrating other institutions to make yours look better, that says it all.

I just didn't know a team that had been playing and beating "big boys" would ever have gotten demoted to FCS. How could something like that happen. 05-stirthepot

Every point the original post made was true and honest, and not derogatory in the slightest. Why WOULD Coastal Carolina have "great" attendance now compared to the exposure and competition they would have in C-USA? Not sure how this is attendance smack at all, let alone on behalf of a school commonly in the top 3 for attendance anyway.

huh? Where is the smack? I was asking a real question. Oh I forgot, you guys have been chugging hatorade against UCF over here so you're going to attack anything posted by a UCF fan regardless of content. Grow up you troll.

The Citadel and Coastal Carolina average about 12,000 and 8,000 a game, respectively. The pricipal complaint I've seen by ECU fans is that the candidate programs all have poor attendance. I think those programs make a good fit geographically and was wondering if they agreed despite the attendance disparity. It had nothing to do with UCF.

The confusion probably comes from the fact that the Citadel has a budget of $12 million and 3300 students in a metro are of less than 700k while Coastal Carolina has a budget of $16 million and 8k students in a city of 16k. So...

If UTEP slides over to the MWC, add one of the following

1) Temple
2) FIU
3) ODU (provided they must move up to FBS)

i dont think CUSA i worth sending our STUDENT atheletes half way arround the county for non-football conference games. No offense; if the A10 and CUSA schools were swaped i would still choose geography over being in a single conference. Football isnt so big of a deal due to the limited number of games. But yeah, if Temple cant get into the ACC / Big12 / BigEast (in that order) than i would like Temple to move football do CUSA. i think you will find that all Temple fans agree with me on that. Football is the money maker anyway, why would CUSA care if Temple is FB only. If anything CUSA gets the better end of the deal, you wouldent have to ship your track and field team to Philadelphia.

And i know what your thinking, what about the basketball. It's true Temple knows its roundball. But Temple has alot of history in the A10, we are the A10 (Xavier fans may disagree). i would hat for Temple to give up the A10 just to promote football. i dont think that is fair to the BB program or the non-revenue programs. Again its more for geography/history sake than competition sake. Although; many Temple fans including myslef beleive the A10 is the superior BBall League. Memphis... please05-stirthepot

I was mostly thinking about the athletic success of those programs. Among South Carolina schools other than USC and Clemson, those two seem to be the most interested in fielding competitive teams in football.

I had no idea how big their budgets were. The size of the city they're in might not be a deal breaker for CUSA fans because many are feeling like they're getting left out because of their small markets. They may not be too excited about building GSU up just to watch them take the next spot in a higher profile conference because of Atlanta.

Just want to note that I would like to see GSU move up as well, but they've been a common topic and I had not seen anyone mention any of the South Carolina schools so I was curious.

Screw that. Temple without their basketball isn't worth it. Let them stay in the MAC/A10 where they will still be in 20 years. Unless Temple is willing to move somewhere with all sports then they will never make it back to a bigger conference. I think the BE is all but dead to Temple as long as Villanova is there Temple will be blocked. The ACC will take Rutgers and UConn before they even think about Temple and well the B12 will take Louisville and Cincy and Cincy is a stretch......

Is Temple football better than it was in the BE. Hard to tell, they are playing in the MAC and still haven't come close to winning it.

I do know we played yall a few years after Hayden Fry left North Texas for the Big 10 and Iowa and his aura had worn off in Denton shortly thereafter; plus I also remember that the first time we played ECU yall hammered us and that was about the same the time we went down to NCAA 1-AA.

UNT leadership during that post-Fry Era had already started waving the white flag as far as our continued pursuance of intercolletiate athletics at the FBS level.

NCAA 1-AA was NCAA football purgatory and to some of us a literal hell for our program as far as where we had once been and where that then leadership was fixin' to take us. UNT leaders in the 80's never dreamed what going down an NCAA level would do to our fans/alums psyche.

We were a school located in a major league sports market playing minor league college football was the perception our alums had so many of them just gave up with our football program and to this day we are still trying to get many of that group back. I saw many of them back this last football season (and for Apogee Stadium's debut) and I know many of them came back because our present UNT leaders have made a committment (with check book in hand) to bring UNT back to the glory days of Abner Haynes Sun Bowl team in the 50's, Mean Joe Greene's great team of the 60's and then the Hayden Fry Era of the 70's.

Please don't bring us into this as we're not candidates. My only point is putting up two tiny public schools in small towns with tiny stadiums and small budgets is preposterous. I still think you cannot be serious.
