RE: Rumors of USM dropping game @WKU
I have a lot of respect for USM......and this doesn't sound like something they would do without a good reason.

RE: Rumors of USM dropping game @WKU
Hopefully if WKU complies they'll get something good out of it rather than just a buyout, which I'm sure is rather small.

When we let Vandy out of a game facilitated by ESPN(ESPN wanted Vandy to play the opener @ The Big House that year) ESPN set up Virginia to Murfreesboro as a one game deal. A game most of us believe was lost on a bad ball spot. So by letting Vandy out of a game scheduled at their place we got a home game against an ACC program and almost won.

When Louisville approached Memphis about a game and Memphis wanted to drop or push back the game with us(it was game 2 of 5) we allowed them to push the game back to the end of that series, in payment a 1-1 tacked onto the end of the deal. For letting Memphis push the game back we got two more years of playing a beatable travel friendly in state opponent.

Would love for the Cajuns and So. Miss to schedule a game in New Orleans at the Superdome every year, swapping home game status every other year. I think it would be a great game and a great draw...

I'd be shocked if Tulane's lease didn't have a provision against such things. That said, I'd rather have played ULL or Troy home and home than WKU. It's a much easier trip for most people.

The scheduling philosophy at Memphis has changed. The last few years, Memphis has schedule two Sun Belt opponents, one FCS team, and one SEC team. In 2015, Memphis will play Missouri, Miami, @Louisville, and @Tennessee. It's likely that after the game in 2014, the Memphis/MTSU series will be done.

As for "beatable", the same could be said about MTSU. Memphis won in 2010, and blew a 4th quarter lead this year because of a lack of depth. If new head coach Justin Fuente can restock our depleted roster (we only have 49 returning scholarship players), then Memphis won't be so "beatable" any more.

haha...okay pal.

Starting to sound a bit like Tiger fans back from when the series was originally signed. Everyone was complaining about how they had no business going to Murfreesboro twice and how after the Tigers won the first two or three games, they'd likely buy out the remainder of the series they should have never signed in the first place. Even after we won in 2007 it was being written off as a fluke by Tiger fans.

Lack of depth is what cost you the game this year? I can roll out any number of excuses for why lost to you in 2010 in what was the ugliest college football game I've ever watched, neither team deserved to win that one.

At the end of the 2014 series, unless you guys manage to roll off three straight victories(don't hold your breath) we will have won the series and to add insult to injury you unsuccessfully attempted to hire away our coach in the middle of it.

I wouldn't mind extending the series, but won't lose any sleep over it being done for a while, in 2015 we start a four year home and home series with Vandy, so we'll be fine if you guys don't want a break from being beaten regularly.

I think that on average our football program is better. We have our down years (see this year) but we generally put out a better team than Memphis. I just don't see any room for Tiger fans to speak up. Sit in the corner and be quiet when it comes to football.

1) Memphis had 65 scholarship players last season, so lack of depth did play a huge factor in our season last year.
2) You haven't "regularly beaten" us. We took the game two years ago and you had to come from behind to beat us last year.

I'm glad we didn't hire your coach. Considering the nosedive MTSU has taken, you'll probably fire him soon.

Memphis has been to five bowls in the last decade compared to the three bowls MTSU has been to. I don't see any room for Blue Raider fans to speak up.

Pushing it to a decade you're going back one coach for us, to our first FBS coach who had one good season, you're going back now two couches for you. Andy McCollum and Tommy West have little to do with our programs today.

We've been to three under our current coach in the last six years.

You've been to two in that time frame and you've now gone three consecutive years without one and didn't go at all under the coach you hired when Stockstill turned you down.

Not sure why you put "regularly beaten" in quotations like those were my words, didn't say that anywhere. Although winning three out of four games in a period of five years sounds pretty "regular" to me.

And why do you keep harping on the fact that we came from behind to beat you? We could beat you on the final drive, with a field goal as time expired, five years in a row. Would that somehow change the fact that we beat you five years in a row? Is there a new column in the record books that I don't know about for come from behind 4th quarter victories?

As I stated earlier, Memphis fans were irate at the signing of the series and convinced that they'd roll off two or three consecutive wins and buy out the remainder of the series. That isn't exactly how it's played out is it? There are no pictures, stories, or asterisks in the record books. Only a winner and a loser and we lead the current series 3-1 and the all time series 15-8-1. We win this year and we've guaranteed winning the series.

Memphis DESERVES to be in the SEC so you Middle Tenn fans of the poor Sun Belt country should not even be able to use the same toilet tissue 03-lmfao.

Condsidering we've been FBS for 10 years I think we have the edge. We still beat you on a regular basis and yes, three out of four games is "regular." I think that gives us room to talk.

The Tigers have been to five bowls in the last decade. The same as ASU and MTSU combined.
