The team knows what this would mean for the conference.

Oh man, another dilemma for the Big East "enviours" (new word) on the C-USA board as another soon to be Big East team temporarily residing in C-USA storms to another impressive victory (like Houston). Must really hurt to claim these two bowl victories since it seems the majority of the posters there do not even want followers of those schools (along with UCF) to even post on their board.

This should affect our portion of the shared BCS payout that gets split between the non-AQ conferences. The WAC going 0-3 and the MAC going 4-1 should allow us to leapfrog them in the BCS computer standings. We should get a slightly larger share.

I'm not sure what they use to determine the conference standings.

We got our reward already. It's called conference pride and I can't remember the last time we had any at the end of bowl season.

C-USA actually went just 2-1 in bowls by the accounting of their own fans on the C-USA board.......according to their posters, Houston and SMU are now relegated to the Big East, and their posters are not welcome on their board. So there!

We could win 20 consecutive bowls and nobody would care because none of the bowls we play in matter to anyone but the people involved in them.

FWIW, today on a late afternoon sports talk show in Dayton on 980, the host actulaly talked aobut the NIU game and the MAC for about 10 minutes and talked about what a "brilliant move" the MAC had made in playing all those November night games and getting all that national exposure and now with the 4-1 Bowl record that this should go down as one of the great seasons in MAC history and should get them more national respect and help with recruiting, because kids know when they go to Toledo or NIU or Miami they are going to play a lot of games on national TV.

You are forgetting the alliance.

Combining the two leftover conferences their bowl record is 2-4.

Adding Utah State, La Tech, FIU into the alliance that adds in 3 more bowl losses to Ohio, TCU and Marshall. That reduces the new alliance bowl record down to 2-7.

The new Big East adding in Boise, SDSU, Houston, SMU would have a combined bowl record of 7-1.

Best MAC bowl year ever at 4 wins.

2003 was a crazy year for MAC football with 3 schools finishing in the top 25 (Miami, BG, NIU). This year 3 MAC schools finished in the votes receiving category (NIU, Temple, Ohio).

Ohio, Temple and NIU needed to win their BCS games which didn't happen.

The conference has gone in peaks and valleys. 2007 was a really weak year for MAC football with Miami wining the East at 6-7 and not receiving a bowl game. Bowling Green was absolutely drilled in the GMAC while WMU and CMU lost their bowl games.

From the 2008-2011 seasons Ohio, Temple and Northern Illinois have steadily improved their programs. Ohio was 4-8 and Temple 5-7 in 2008 with Temple beating Ohio in OT. In 2009 & 2010 the two schools are in contention for a MAC East title. In 2011 both schools win in bowl games.

I hope this year was not another peak for the conference but I'm kind of left wondering with Temple's graduation losses, Harnish graduating at NIU, Beckman leaving Toledo for Illinios ect. A few of the 9 to 11 game win teams may be stepping back some in 2012.

RE: ESPN Bowl challenge Cup (results).
I'm hunching that the top will take a step back BUT the middle will be better.

Maybe Kent State?

Maybe EMU?

Maybe CMU?

Maybe BSU?

EMU fans believe our team will be better, despite a lot of losses on defense, but the schedule (both inside and outside the conference) will be tougher.

Doing a repeat on CMU and WMU will be tough. Akron and UB are off the '12 schedule. Add Temple instead (Ugh!).

Two I-AA teams (Howard and Alabama State) are off the schedule but replaced by Illinois State and Army.

Purdue and MSU replace UofM and PSU in our 'money' games.
