Somebody Steal the Fedora!
USM's big win today has got to have gotten the attention of some major programs in the hunt for a coach. If Larry Fedora gets taken away, USM has some commitments that USA pursued heavily - OL Robert Leff of Fairhope, CB Kalan Rees of Briarwood Christian and RB DeAnte Lawrence of Prattville to name a few. Maybe we'd have shot to get one or two to look our way.

It looks like UNC has offered Fedora...

I would take Kalen Reed in a second.

If the coaching carousel nets us Brackett or Reed at CB, I'll consider it a win.

Apparently North Carolina just did according to Shugart during halftime tonight.

So now USM has canned there AD. I wonder how that affects their coaching search? It seems like it would prolong the process, as the logical timeline would be to hire a new AD first.

USM is a better job then Memphis, you would think they would be able to get a good cordinator to replace Fedora.

Unless they do like Ole Miss. They could put Brett Favre on the coaching search group, and hire the coach first, and then let the coach have input on who the AD is.

Did anyone else read Tommy Hicks' article this morning referencing rumors that USM is interest in CJJ? I haven't heard any rumors to that effect, and the article quoted CJJ as saying "I'm really not (interested). I'm happy where I'm at and keeping this thing going."

I did find this article that suggests UAB should consider CJJ.

"In our article about "Who Should Ole Miss Hire" I suggested Liberty's Danny Rocco and South Alabama's Joey Jones as longshots for that job. Maybe they should give one of those guys a call."

There was a strong rumor flying around earlier this week that Joey might interview at USM. I'm glad to see him shoot it down in public.

Latest rumor is Kirby Smart, DC at Alabama is interviewing for the USM job. That could mean both UA and AU lose both their DC and OC this year.

WOW! What a Staffing debacle.

Everyone will be combing the woods for DC's and OC"s.

That is where I think we would need to worry about CJJ, what if Bama came a calling for him to fill the OC job?.?.?.?.... Home may be Mobile, but Bama is momma. And we all know what happens when momma comes calling.

RE: Somebody Steal the Fedora!
Let me preface this by saying that I don't think anybody will try to hire Coach Jones at this point.

That said, if he does leave, it's not the end of the world. We don't need to worry about that. This would be an attractive job. We would be able to hire a competent, capable coach. It might not be somebody with the name recognition of Gus Malzahn, but an opening at South Alabama would attract some good coaches.

I would hope this doen't occur. We don't need to add to our coaching search beyond OC.

RE: Somebody Steal the Fedora!
I wouldn't expect it to happen, CJJ is in a very good spot and it would be a step down to go be an OC, even at Alabama.
