Are any of you guys going? I thought about it but its a longish drive.

I'll be there. Gonna try to fly down to turn the 4+ hours into 1 and a half.

One thing we have on our side is that a coach can never convince a bunch of big ten players that a mac school can beat them. They can already read the headline of best start since 1951.

I think WE were a big part in us upsetting Illinois at Ford Field. I know I lost my voice that day.

We won't be there this Saturday...but I am hopeful.

There will be a group from GR going to the game and meeting up with a former player that coaches in Illinois now.

Always proud to be a Bronco.

I'm glad I just made it through that age of my life before men were obligated to go to showers. 03-puke

The last two friends that got married got tickets to Tigers games to avoid being in town. Somehow they didn't get hammered for it.

I just have to show up to take the loot home, so at least I should be able to watch the game!

RE: The key to Saturday
Glad we got that shower thing cleared up, I was confused and thought that stdatwmu was being "drug" to a shower by his nards.

Now, about the game..........

Our defense is even more athletic than the defense that they saw in 2008, we also put ourselves "out there" with blitzing packages that could be exposed by a smart OC and a qb that executes on the field. I watched Illinois' ASU win, they didn't really seem to be "that team", and our defense is as good or better than ASU's (we have a good team guys).

I'm excited to see us go on the road and compete with a quality program, and not be fearing a flat out shellacking like the days gone by, in fact, I think it'll be a tightly contested game with mistakes being the key as everyone (I can be obvious too!) is saying.

As to the game, I agree that our D is much improved from years past. And we know our O can hang points on anyone.

So, basically, I'm back to our usual mantra against BCS teams... if we don't make any dumb*** mistakes, this should be a darn good game.

How cool is it to have a program the caliber that we can be disappointed if we don't play a GOOD BCS team straight up on the road? Never thought I would see the day.

That is why I've bit my tongue and not written what has been on my mind the past year. Despite the disappointing losses last year early, I see a program that is right at the corner, ready to round it, or to use a different analogy, is about to get over the hump. Recruiting seems to be bringing more talent and speed to Kalamazoo and we are building quality depth. Question is - can the guys make that next step? They need to produce and cut down on some mistakes so we aren't helping the opposition. I really believe Cubit has these guys on the verge of being the best WMU team since his days of being OC under Darnell. Now I will say it - the potential is there to be one of the best WMU teams in a long, long time. At this point it is potential. Time to make it factual.

Even so, this is the MAC where you are only a few key injuries or bad games away from being mediocre and falling back into the middle of the pack..

Of course, should disaster appear, all of this makes me look ridiculous and of course, I never wrote this. While at times I have gotten ticked off at some decisions BC has made, I really believe that he has gotten this program primed for take-off. Cubit haters will always be around but I, for one, think he has a group that can/will be special.

Did anyone say score more points than the other team yet?

I feel that's the real key to the game.

I agree with you 100%.

So if we fall off the proverbial cliff, I'll be missing a parachute along with you...

RE: The key to Saturday
It could happen, but not because we're a much weaker team......think about it. It used to be that we took the field and nobody expected us to win against top "big time" programs. Many examples, hell the year we knocked Wisconson off with one of our best teams, they had one of their worst and it was a tight game.

Now? Not so much. Look at the stats from the scUM game, two bad plays aside, the Broncos were in that game and fighting. Eliminate the bad plays? They're in a fight til the end, much later that night because they couldn't have called the game.

This team has the potential to beat many in the country this year, and in my mind they can compete with anyone that I've seen so far.

Gotta love Carder's attitude in that article. You can see why he's such a team leader, and why this team seems to have so much confidence. Mr. Whinny's lovin' this!

RE: The key to Saturday
My simple key's to the game saturday:

1. Dont turn the ball over, however force some turnovers.
2. Ponder needs to FINALLY come out of his shell... White is gonna be blanketed. Ponder, Arnheim and Ravnell need to step it up.
3. Defense MUST limit the big plays. Illinois is going to score... just dont let them do it quickly. Time of poss. in this game is critical to keeping it close down teh stretch. Get to halftime close or fingers crossed, leading. This will put some fear back in the the Illini team while putting energy and belief into the WMU team.
4. STAY HEALTHY!

I've said it before... a WIN would be great... but coming out of this game healthy is CRITICAL.

Agree. I want to see our D step up early and make a big play - create some passion, some fire in their bellies. Intensity comes from emotion and our guys will need something to get them fired up and playing hard and fast.

This is undoubtedly the best team we have seen this season so far. Gonna keep my fingers and toes crossed that we don't suffer any key injuries.....
