BTW, Ron Paul exploded on InTrade last night after the debate. He is now almost a coin flip with Bachmann on InTrade to win the Straw Poll.

Did you happen to check out how many people actually voted by region? Lots of locations in the single digits, and I don't mean 9...

You do realize the government owns nearly the entire state of Nevada, and that there are swaths of desolation in Idaho through the Dakotas right? The total number of votes for Senate in North Dakota is usually less than the votes that Greenville-Spartanburg, SC turns out for their house district.

Yes, but I was looking more around the midwest states that have good population levels. Aside from the major cities, most of the other cities indicated on the map have very little participation. My point is that you cannot come to the conclusion that Paul knocked it out of the park for the nationwide electorate. I like Ron Paul and would love to see him get the nomination, but I won't let myself get carried away when the data is scant at this time.

Fox aired a different poll showing Newt and Mitt the winners. Paul towards the bottom. Sh*theads! :muttering:

My dad just showed me that. Unbelievable.

I think you all under estimate the damage Paul's views on Iran and rights for terrorists have on him with most republican voters.

Not me. I think it is one of his principled stances that hurts him with neocons.

His principled stand puts him out of the mainstream of the party, which isn't neocon by any stretch. The voters you need to win a republican primary believe terrorists should be killed, not mirandized. They believe Iran represents a threat to this country and telling them Iran has a right to pursure a nuke seems absolutely insane.

That is why Paul can't win the nomination.

This. And it actually pains me that he has these ridiculous views on Iran.

I tend to agree...with everything but that neocons do not fill the GOP ranks.04-cheers But then...I see neocons behind every tree.

The poll they used is the America's newsroom poll. I guess they put up 100 polls on their site and use the 1 that doesn't show RP in 1st. He was in 2nd by the time the show ended.

This is an issue that I do not see totally eye to eye with him on. I understand the principle that a nation should be able to do whatever it wishes to do in regard to its defense. Regardless of the fact that the US caused most of the problems there in the first place does not make the current situation less dangerous. Paul...standing on principle on this issue damages him politically.

I personally am not afraid of Iran in the least. I know damn well that Israel is not going to tolerate nuclear proliferation in Iran. This will be a situation that the US will not need to be involved. Iran will suffer greatly at the hands of the Israeli's if they take this tack.

If we turn our backs on Israel, as Paul wants to do, what are they going to do it with? Do you realize what Israelis have contributed to the scientific field, and other academics in general? Take a look at the Nobel Prize history. ...and not that bullsh*t peace prize.

Israel is a nuclear nation. They can take care of themselves. Just like if Iran lobs a nuclear device anywhere, you can expect the nuclear world to react and obliterate the entire nation. Iran is stupid, but not that stupid.

Either way, it's a good thing the president doesn't have the power to launch a war all on his own... (Oh, wait...)

My personal answer would have been "Israel will light Iran up if they get serious about a nuclear program, which our CIA emphatically says they're not at this time. Even if Israel didn't act ... a few tomahawks and NOT nation building is the way to handle that. But if you REALLY want to defuse Iran over the long term ... give them something far deadlier to despots than tomahawks ... give them capitalism. End the sanctions. Open up trade. Show their people what freedom can do to elevate their standard of living and they won't turn to religious extremists to raise them out of poverty anymore."

But this poor defenseless Israel as the 51st state who we must shower with money and arms and frankincense and myrrh bull is truly crazy.

Ron Paul coming up live on the soap box any minute now.

CSPAN: http://www.c-span.org/Live-Video/C-SPAN/

Rick Santorum just got down after delivering another "WTF????" comment ... to be exact ... "When the Tea Party talks about the Constitution they are wrong..."

You need to read up on the 12'ers. They wouldn't do it because they're stupid; they'd do it because they believe it'll usher in the 12th Imam. Those bastards even built a special train from where he's supposed to emerge to the city of Tehran. When the first nuke, that Paul thinks they have a right to, is lobbed into Israel, Israel is destroyed, but not after lobbing their entire arsenal at their enemies in Syria, Iran, Egypt, Libya, Jordan, S.A., Lebanon, and elsewhere. ...then, it WILL be our f'n problem. The best defense is to not let your staunch enemies catch up to you and Ron Paul is whacked out of his f'n gourd for having that mindset. There's a damn reason the moonbats love him.
