But does basketball divisions really matter one way or another? In the current environment the MAC is getting the post-season tournament champ into the NCAAs, that's it. This is the right answer. When all teams in a conference cannot play the same schedule, then you have to move to divisions and somehow reward the winner. Giving both division champs a bye in the conference tournament is also the correct reward in this case. There are "wildcards" (byes 3 and 4) for the good in the "stronger" division.

Without moving to a 22-game conference schedule, what the MAC does is perfect.
