RE: Tickets Sold
I just went to Ticketmaster. Similar tickets to the one's I purchased at UT are $6.80 more each at Ticketmaster.

This is not good.

If UT is 9-3 or 8-4 next year and doesn't go to a bowl game, this is the number UT will be forced to look at. The 5,000 people that purchased through the UT ticket office are the 5,000 fans going to Detroit to watch the Rockets. Everyone else is a neutral fan from Detroit.

I was hopeful UT would sell out the allotment. That's a powerful word to bowl committees and one that should be expected with only a short car ride north.

Oh well, hopefully it's something we don't have to worry about going forward. It's just something that MAC teams have to deal with, especially considering the fact that the only 2 bowl eligible teams not playing this year are MAC teams.

Possibly a well intentioned gamble that didn't pay off? Student ticket prices were very low. Someone mentioned UT lowered those so students could go but raised others to balance the equation?

There are a lot of things working against, gift return day, rest after the holiday and work starts up.... still...

IMO, it still comes down to organizational effort/creativity. Something/anything that would have come with the ticket price that would have gotten those fans a bit more turn key service to a UT rally, event... something other than burgers and chicken sandwiches.... and again, Detroit did nothing that I've come across to deserve this Bowl.

RE: Tickets Sold
I knew Toledo would have to cover their allotment and i am sad that they may have to swallow a lot of money even if they have thousands of fans in Detroit. Hopefully in future years, they can cover their allotment without problems. Little Caesars had a promotion for lower level tickets at $15 apiece. Can't beat that deal. If Toledo is in the LCB next year, I may not buy presents and just spring towards bowl tickets.

If we can't sell our allotment with a short drive to Detroit because everybody complains the tickets are too expensive, what makes anyone think we would sell out our allotment if you have to get on a plane to go to the game. The LCB gives ALL Toledo residents and local UT area students the opportunity to experience their HOME TEAM in a Bowl game. If you haven't been to the LCB before, it is a GREAT venue and usually an exciting game. I am hoping that the majority of Toledo residents/UT students do as most are suggesting, that they are buying tickets elsewhere. The support for our TEAM is critical if we ever want to get our program recognized as an elite Mid Major program. Leaving at halftime of home games (no matter the score) and not traveling to Bowl games sends a message that Toledo is small time. I just wish more Fans and students recognized how important they are in building the program. Here's hoping UT shows up Big Time on Sunday!

How is buying through ticketmaster cheaper??? They rape people with service fees.

That's what I said in an earlier post. I checked Ticketmaster today and the price there was $6.80 more than UT!

I bought mine through the University but Im just saying. For a trip to Detroit, people don't want to spend the money because its not deemed a trip. A game in a different bowl could be a different story.

And, I've been to all the Detroit bowls we've been in, and all tickets have all been bought from the university, just saying, with the proximity.

I haven't looked at Ticketmaster, so I dont know if there cheaper, all that matters is we show up, be loud, and bring home a W on the season.

Little Caesars had a promotion...$15 tickets apiece. Buying four through that promotion on ticketmaster including fees was still cheaper than 2 tickets through UT. Just more affordable...

Agreed but we never have a problem showing up in Detroit although the 5k out of 10,000 tickets sold worries me a little. I think Toledo will have upwards of 15,000 in Detroit. Smaller than previous bowl games at Ford Field but acceptable. Once this team makes a habit of going to bowl games and winning conference titles, the support will grow.

if 37k are already sold u honestly only think we will have 15k there? What are the others FIU fans? There may people from Detroit just wanting to go see some football, but I bet they will be pulling for Toledo too. Maybe not loud and crazy fans but they wont be cheering for FIU.

I think a lot will be Lions/Red Wings fans who either got free tickets or discounted ones...

Personally, I know of seven people who don't attend UT games regularly but are planning to go to Detroit. I haven't asked where they purchased their tickets or if they got them for free because i just don't care. My point is that there will be plenty of fans - albeit not die-hard fans - cheering for the Rockets this Sunday.

The day and time are bad. Last year the bowl was on Saturday at 1PM, certainly a lot more fan friendly than a Sunday when many people have to work the next day and the game may not be over until midnight. There were many Motor City Bowls that were during the daytime. They need to go back to that.

Ken Hoffman, LCPizza Bowl Director, acknowledged it's a late start. They wanted it earlier, but ESPN set the time.

They weren't given anything---they bought it. If you got the money, you have the power. TV brings the money and therefore, in a real sense, unfortunately owns BCS level college football.
