RE: Broncoblitz.com
If the day comes that Rivals changes their message board I would encourage it.................for the very reasons you stated.

But as long as their message boards are straight out of 1998 I don't blame anyone for opting for this. Other than the server issues these guys do a great job and it's a well run board.

Not trying to cut my own throat, just being honest with you. Several Rivals boards fight this issue.

What would be good for WMU and other schools would be if BSU, NIU, Miami, Akron, and Ohio started a Rivals board, and then those schools would be listed under a conference rather than as "More Schools."

Right now Rivals MAC schools are WMU, CMU, Temple, and Kent. Kent does almost exclusively basketball. The publisher also owns part of the ND sight, and the whole Ohio preps site, so Kent is an afterthought for him. Temple does some serious traffic, both on message boards and with subs.

RE: Broncoblitz.com
24/7.com was started by the main guy from Rivals. He started the Alabama site (which is a multi million dollar site), and eventually ended up running Rivals. When Yahoo bought them they bought him out (dumb move on their part). He had a no compete clause in his buy out where he couldn't start a new network for two years.

While he knows his stuff, this is a shrinking business. You have Rivals, Scout, and ESPN all doing recruiting. Newspapers have gone online and cover games to nearly the same extent that sites like Rivals do. That's why most Rivals sites only charge for recruiting articles these days, because you can get the other stuff free at online newspapers (although that will likely change).

Anyway, the 24/7 idea is probably a day late to the dance in terms of branding.

Yeah, I just mentioned it because the forum set up might be better than scout/rivals. We will have to wait and see. Spartantailgate is moving to 24/7. Its going to be interesting to see how smart of a move that is.

The UCF publisher says they're going to upgrade the boards in early 2011. When that happens, let the market dictate. It's good for talking recruits, or a little insider stuff, but until the boards are improved I wouldn't even encourage people to post there regularly.

Rivals is a cash cow for Yahoo. Johnny Yang needs to give us something better than the 1995 message boards he used when he first devised Yahoo.com.

Are you not interested in solving this problem? Are you just going to whine and complain about not enough MAC Rivals sites or are you going to step up to the plate and do something? Are you a complainer or doer?

^ Seriously, why are you here? Name one thing you bring to the table in terms of WMU sports? I can't remember the last time you posted anything remotely relevant Bronco sports. Everything's a pissing match with you, followed by trying to round up someone to form an allegiance with. It's so old I'd think you're even getting bored with it.

69 started a topic, and it only took 6 posts for you to change the topic to a pissing match. Why do you bother? What kind of jollies do you get from it? If you can't add to the topic, why not just stay out of it?

RE: Broncoblitz.com
LOL why don't you calm down. This thread was about message boards not WMU sports. I found it ironic given how you took the CMU freep off the rails by blaming everyone for not stepping up and then one thread over you are on the other side of an argument telling others what to do with their time and resources. You need more introspection sometimes Dip and less accusation. I bring the same thing everyone else (who doesn't claim to be an expert) brings to this board a passion for all things WMU and opinions...deal with it.

I reject pissing matches in all forms and stand for integrity and civility on this board and you know this. You are just a blind little hypocrite who is already looking for the justification for your next rage session. Happy Holidays anyway. I'll be back in the New Year to read more of your lame justifications for why everyone in the AD is doing a great job and why we all need a rivals subscription. Now I'm headed off to the airport for a few weeks in Mexico.

RE: Broncoblitz.com
i doubt you'll be able to get people to go to rivals. Those boards are horrible, plus alot of us like hte easy access to the MAC board and the other mac school boards on this site.
