I think that was kind of the point of many in this thread, is that people should be out rooting for UC by showing up for the games.

Being a fan is an individual experience. It takes a pretty huge ego to tell other fans what they should be doing.

It is one thing to make a case for why people should go, but this thread crossed that line many times over.

i debated closing this thread, and concluded there are a sizable number of resentments which have built up over time. so, i'm keeping it open.

everybody, vent your spleens. pent up anger and resentments, post 'em, within the confines of the AUP. I don't care if the posts actually relate to attendance. you got a gripe with someone(s), voice them on the board or to whoever is the focus by pm.

this seems to have become the spleen venting thread whether intended or not.

it is a rare event for me to edit, and rarer still for me to delete. that's been the history here, and it ain't gonna change. but those of you with long held perceptions of being slighted should address those perceptions before they are long held, and lead to some volcanic eruption.

i respond to every pm sent me way which requires a response. i'm sure B_R does the same, as do all the mods.

As for Mick. I WANT HIM TO WIN!!. That is all. That IMO isn't asking too much. Did I think he would win? Nope. Plain and simple. I think the admin. was in a bind. No one in their right mind and knowing (and trust me- EVERY COACH in Div1 knew how and WHY it went down) that it was handled the way it was would have ever came to UC. Step in Mick Cronin. He "fit" for lack of a better word, the small list that the UC admin was looking for because they couldn't be picky or they weren't going to have a coach. The main one and only one that really counted IMO was that "he screwed Bob."

Now many want to disagree with that and do the ole' shuck and jive with the "Huggs never had any coaches springing from his coaching tree" diatribe because that WAS a fact at that time and Mick wanted to become a head coach etc. etc. etc. Fine. I understand that. But there were better ways for Mick to go about it. Pitino knew who The Big Dog was in CUSA. He knew the ONE COACH that he was going to have a problem with and that was Bob Huggin's and his boys, no one can convince me any different, it's just common sense. I can't fault Pitino, as a coach he had to find the "chink in the armor" to the UC program.

And if for a second you don't think that Mick blabbered like a fifteen year old boy trying to land the most popular girl in his class, that is exactly what Cronin did with Rick and the Louisville program. Can you blame him? It depends on what your defintion of character truly is. I wouldn't have taken the job if I knew I was going to have to spill the beans on the ONE MAN who hired me and let me start from fooking clipping tape and working up the ladder. But he did.

As for being a the epitome of a "Bob Huggins" fan. I would be a "Fred Flintstone" fan. There are two things I want and in order. #1: Play harder than you have ever played and when you play as hard as you think you can - play even harder- and if you don't - you sit. And number two usually comes after number one and THAT IS WIN. If number one is done, more often than not number two will follow, just look at Coach Huggins numbers. It just happened to be that I fell in love with that style of blame, heck I am from Cincinnati, shoot me. Apologize for the long post.

Sure you are. As you told me yourself "I'm part of the "cool kids club." Just call it as you see it and be honest.

Comparing Cincy's schedule to Boeheim's?? He's made a career scheduling just like this. Just track his schedules the past 20 years. Rarely has he scheduled more than one BCS level opponent OOC. If not for exempt tourneys he'd rarely have more than 1 on his schedule. The only thing rarer than scheduled BCS level opponents have been Syracuse OOC road games. Almost never happens. Especially check out the 1990s. He's actually scheduled up a little since the new Big East.

Actually, this had been a complaint of mine for many years when debating BE fans. Prior to the CUSA infusion that is.

Sad state of affairs that we lose good posters in the course of calling fellow fans out over poor attendance. Pathetic really and totally unnecessary. Here's the bottom line: attendance will increase after some consistent winning and people deciding its a good way to spend their time and money. The posters on this board aren't going to fill the Shoe whether one or all are attending games. And I can't really blame fans who don't go to nonconf games against the likes of Craphole Valley State in the wake of 5 really trying years. And student support has sucked for many years and long before Huggs left. It is what it is and its sucked for years.

Calling out posters here aint gonna fill the Shoe. So why go that route. If you build it they will come. Cats keep winning crowds will go up as the season progresses, mark it down. They make the tourney this year and come next year you won't see openers with high school gym like attendance. It'll grow over time just like football has had to do. UC killed its own cash cow and people who want to blame the fans for not showing up to every game after five years in the abyss are misdirecting unnecessary anger.

This team plays hard and they look a lot better in the effort and execution department than other teams have in recent years. If they keep it up, the crowds will grow. Until then, I truly hope posters stop fighting with eachother and support the team how they see fit.

You Greg, I truly hope you and yours have a great Thanksgiving and I hope you know I mean it because I do. But to be as frank as I can be, you are one of the three that I "had" a problem with. I don't now, that I know of, but you were one that basically jumped on in a thread and pal -- -- -it had absolutely NOTHING to do with you.

So I PM'd you and basically told you to pound salt and I told you something to the effect (and I have it saved) " I PROMISE you wouldn't say that to my face." Your response was "you didn't know what I was talking about." Then when you looked back and saw it - you said that you basically "handled all of the complaints the same way and that didn't mean it." Just saying.

Like I said earlier, minus about three people in here, I would love to meet with fellow Bearcat Fans, and I have met ELEVEN guests and it was great and they all had the same feelings when it came to this board. But with what has been said to me personally (and I have the quotes in hand) it would be the biggest disturbance that establishment has ever seen and I want to sleep in my clean bedspread.

Bottom line. People should be careful in what they say to people that they truly don't know, just because you have the buzz on and you're in the safety of your own home doesn't give you the permission to act like you are the God of the board and what you say is fact. I don't know any other nice way to say it.

With that being said, it is no threat to any of your gatherings, so I don't get booted from here. I'm just saying.
