Wow, 14-0 San Diego State. TCU's bargaining chip is slipping.

I saw that. TCU just fumbled in the end zone, which was recovered by San Diego State...

I seriously doubt that will stand, though...

It actually stood! Wow. TCU is marching up the field now, but TCU looks uncharacteristically shaky. Probably senior day emotions, I think they'll up and and start rolling at some point.

RE: OT - San Diego State at #3 TCU
I really don't think TCU is a good fit for the Big East. Teams fall off, it happened to Louisville, it happened to Cincy, it happened to WVU. When TCU falls off we have a private school with so-so attendance sitting there way out on an island. Our other team on an island (USF) can pack the stands when they are good (see 2007), TCU has been on the verge of a national title for two years and they still only have 40k people show up.

And why do you expect those schools you mentioned to come back? Great facilities and a dedicated athletic administration, which is what TCU has. The point of adding TCU isn't because of their ranking, the point of adding TCU is that they have good facilities and are improving them to great facilities, very good academics, dedicated to being the best athletically, and they get the Big East into a new, huge TV and recruiting market. They're a great fit. Heck, 40,000 would have them in the upper tier of the Big East in attendance, and if they're expanding their seating capacity, or getting a bigger stadium and moving to a BCS conference, with the exposure we can provide, you could be talking 50,000 to 55,000 fancs. Cincinnati's attendance improved by just under 15,000 per game since joining the Big East. That is one of the reasons we need to add ECU as well, for better bowls. But that's for the Expansion board, lets get back to football!

Wow, thanks for the updates Cuban. That's not helping the MWC chirping of their superiority, now Notre Dame leads 28-3, Utah is going to fall out of the Top 25. Nevada better win. Meanwhile TCU has officially awaken and are attempting to take back control of that game. Auburn losing to Georgia is a bit of a shocker. Georgia is underachieving and Auburn is distracted.

This conference is basically becoming what CUSA used to be if we take TCU. No geographic identity, just a hodge podge of teams that aren't good enough for the Big 12 or Big 10 or wherever.

If it were up to this board this conference would have added Memphis a few years ago. TCU is a quick fix that will stick out like a sore thumb as soon as their coach leaves. I'll stop talking about it now since this isn't really the place for it.

14-13, extra point no good, but TCU didn't have any problems marching up the field there. Meanwhile SDSU's offense has stalled.

I've said this in another thread, only the insecure worry about becoming another C-USA. But the people watching see a conference growing its markets. Heck, the Big Ten trying to add Texas and the Pac-10 trying to add the Big 12 schools and the SEC trying to add Texas and Oklahoma schools, and the ACC adding Northeast schools tell you that geography went out the window a long time ago. But not being good enough for the Big 12 and Big 10? You could say that about Pitt or say that WVU isn't good enough to get the ACC instead of taking shots at the new schools. But nobody is saying that because it's silly. TCU's good enough to get into a lot of BCS conferences.

Dip, The BEast has always been a hodge podge of schools. Miami had no history or geographic connection to the other schools, who were all located in the northeast. USF is our Miami now. But you get my drift...

Saying TCU isn't 'good enough' for the Big 12 was a poor choice of words on my part. What I mean is just that they prefer to be in the Big 12 over the Big East, and the Big 12 would prefer not to have them.

I'll start a thread over on the expansion board about why I don't want TCU so I don't have to derail this thread any longer.

Exactly. There are schools that "prefer" to be in the Big Ten and SEC, should we kick them out?

What there is, CC, are schools that want to be in a more stable all-sports conference, with a more lucrative contract. Those schools want what everybody wants. Security, power, and money. It's just that every school has a different idea of which direction to take to achieve those things...

34-14 TCU at the half.

I really don't see how lousy Oregon or Auburn defenses would contain TCU. Meanwhile, TCU's fast D would dominate UO's soft offense. Auburn's offense could pose problems but Newton isn't a good passer.

There was no way San Diego State was going to keep that lead. Their history gives plenty of evidence as to why...
