I was thinking about putting this in the sports bar but it fits in the spin room too. I'm an Urban Meyer fan from his time in BG. There's plenty of scumbags in athletics and you can do far worse than Tebow as a role model.
There seems to be a bias out there against the guy. What the guy does on the field does not warrant the backlash imo. Any other thoughts. Is there an anti-Christian thing going on?

People don't like him because ESPN has been going down on him for the past 3 years. They are tired of hearing about it.

He's done much to warrant that praise. The guy has an impeccable character, and in today's time with the Owens, Sprewells, etc., I think it means something.

I don't know anything about college sports, but yesterday my kid's tutor told me her son (she lives in Norco, CA, next door to Corona where I live) is in the running for the Heisman trophy. Said he's a running back for Stanford. She said she also has another son and two daughters in college sports. She said she's being hounded by agents. Is this BS? And I have no idea what her last name is as she only mentioned it one time but I might recall it if I heard it again.

I still haven't heard him thank God for any of his loses.

That said, I rooted him for him to fail so Georgia Tech might have a shot for the NC. I feel ashamed I grossly underestimated the incompetence of our defensive coordinator.

I don't hate Tebow, but I despise FU, so I despise Tebow through association.

Anybody that is as good/perfect as Tebow, both on and off of the field, people are going to root against him and his team. It is more about human nature than society.

Sun Tzu had plenty to say about this phenomenon.

As someone who's slightly nauseated by FCA and other such hype, I have a lot of respect for Urban Meyer and Tebow. I don't like the SEC (any of em), but I'd rather see Florida win than any team out there with ethically-challenged coaches. In summary, I'm impressed that Tebow and Meyer seem to have good ethics ... I'm mostly indifferent to their faith, public as it is.

I don't really have too much of a thought either way on them... I do think that Tebow seems to be a good guy and he just wins, but I also don't think he'll be very good in the NFL.

Meyer got his undergrad degree at the University of Cincinnati, so of course I like him. :)

We are all sick of the media hype. I don't care that hes a Christian or a virgin or does good things. Lots of other people do too. Good God am I sick of Florida and Tebow.

Yup.

It's the ESPN Effect.

They made me hate Tebow, Favre, Brady, Pedro, Tiger...

They quite literally smother a sports fan.

Having said that, I'm hoping Tebow puts an Old Testament beatdown on the Criminal Todd this weekend. You know, back when God would smite you so you stayed smote.

And Herstreit a few years ago with, every 5 minutes, "Reggie Bush, Matt Leinert, Pete Carroll, Lendale White" over and over again.

Isn't it easier just to hate ESPN rather than holding it against those guys? 03-lmfao Problem solved... (this post brought to you by Harmony Remotes)

I don't think anyone wants him to fail. He just has NOT had that great a season this year in comparison to his HT year and the media and sports fans were expecting more from him. This season you have other kids like Case Keenum that have popped up into the spotlight. Let's not forget...We are talking about a student athlete...not a professional. Regardless of the how much we expect these young men to be able to perform...they are still only a couple of year out of High School. It is ALL about...What have you done lately!!!..not yesterday05-stirthepot
