The thing is that it is the 10th of August and the evaluation period ended on July 31st. He isn't likely to receive any new offers at this point. Now SMU & New Orleans offered recently, but he has no high majors left in the mix. Conference USA isn't a major conference, so I just don't see that happening. IMO, at the end of the day it's the MAC or Missouri Valley for Jordan.

Remember, people said the same thing last year about Tony Nixon getting a big conference offer and a few weeks later he was a Huskie. Here's hoping history repeats itself.

Threloff should be in line for interest from some good basketball programs. I would say the chances of NIU landing him are remote.

RE: Latest on Jordan Threloff
Based on my experience, by this time majors have offered the guys they want and they will see which players pick what schools. If they have a scholarship left over as players pick other schools, they will move on to guys who they didn't have on their A or B (or maybe C) lists that they had already offered. They may then offer one of the next guys on their lists for that position needed or save the scholarship for next year. So, he may still get an offer from a "bigger" school. If that is what he is looking for it might happen and he can wait and see if it does. If it does, I hope it works out for him. Or, he may choose to go with a school who has already offered and who has proven to him that they have wanted him all along, not settling for him after others choose schools. I've stated before that I'm big on going where you are really wanted, but that is the advice we got all along from friends and others who are extremely well connected in the recruiting game as we went through the process. And, I am a firm believer in that advice. In the end, each player and his family must do what they feel is best for them.

Yeah, I just saw that posted. Western Kentucky has a good program. Certainly better than any current MAC program. We can't know the consideration points of Threloff, but all things considered Western Kentucky would be hard to pass up if you are in his shoes.

What insanity. The same WKU that could not get into the MAC due to academics of all things? You are going to travel to a small town in Kentucky to play ball for a marginally better program rather than all the choices closer to home. If you want to get away you are not going to do it to WKU. Give me a break.

RE: Latest on Jordan Threloff
My questions and comments to Jordan would be:
"Why did WKU and these other programs wait until now? If they really wanted you like we do, they would have offered you a long time ago like we did. If it is because they hadn't seen you until recently, what does that say about their interest and about their staff since you have been all over the Internet and out playing AAU all along?" Also, "How many games will your family and friends see you play when you are playing for any of these other schools?" "Has anyone else shown you more love and for a longer time than we have?" "Are you going to have the playing time and opportunity to develop on the court more at other schools? Nope. " "If you already know you really don't want to stay here in Dekalb, we wish you the best. But be fair to us and let us know so we can move on and go after the next guy on our list and not wait for you when it isn't going to happen." "If you know we have what you are looking for, let us know big fella and let the party begin!"

If he just flat out does not want to stay in Dekalb and attend NIU, then so be it and good luck. If he needs to check out other places still to be sure, then that's what he definitely should do. But, if NIU has what he is looking for, then my advice would be to pull the trigger and commit. Why wait and waste your time and the time of other schools who have been at least somewhat good to you. Why confuse things and make it harder for yourself? Be the local hero. Build more local support and excitement in the program. Give some love to the Huskie fans and commit without having to officially visit all the other places. Jump on board of a train moving forward and be an important part of it. Put this whole, long process behind you and begin working towards your future. Join the pack!! NIU used to be known for some basketball success - THE PACK IS BACK. It's going to be good and will be even better with you. Let's get to work.

Many times a local kid just wants to go away from home for no other reason then he has been in NIU's backyard his whole life and wants to go away. If he is a player lets hope he does not feel that way

Coach, sounds like you've got a future as a recruiter if you ever decide to leave Geneseo.

WKU has had some good teams, but I am NOT ready to toss in the towel and relegate our program and other MAC programs to take a back seat to them. Come on! Have a little faith. The MAC has been good in the past and will be again. It's not the ACC, but permanently behind WKU? NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT! Our guys will show it, and then some folks here can quickly apologize and jump on the band wagon. I, for one, will welcome you on board!

I will say this... if I was this kid, it would be hard to pass up bringing your hometown school a conference championship (and an NCAA tourney bid b/c of it) if the other option is just WKU or Bradley, UIC, Loyola, etc..

If he got offers to places like UNC, Duke, (or warm weather schools if that's his things) etc.. I completely understand him going there, but I have to think when it's a mid-major vs. mid-major in the midwest, I'm taking the school where my friends and family can watch me play every game and where I can be the potential star of the team. Just my way of looking at it.

I agree, if he chooses NIU and makes a big impact here he could easily leave a legacy and mark on the program and town. He would get a lot of hometown support from the DeKalb community.

Of all the schools who have offered, NIU is one of the top schools on the list where he could make a big impact immediately. NIU is already poised for a turnaround. Another good player would just make it happen quicker.

Some of you need to acquaint yourselves with the Western Kentucky basketball program. It is distinctly better than any program in the MAC. That program should definitely be an attractive consideration for Threloff. But again, none of us have insight into his criteria, thinking and motivations. The fact that the process has dragged out this long suggests to me that Threloff is hoping for "better choices" to come forward. Maybe he considers WKU a "better choice" now that they have popped up on his radarscope. We shall see.

I'm not saying WKU isn't good, just my own thought process on how I would look at programs around the same level. If there wasn't a huge difference, I.e. Warm weather, or Top 25 program consistently, I'd start worrying about other things, like my friends and family being able to watch me play, play time, and a chance to win.

the question for threloff is does he want to join an established program like WKU or try to help build one here. NIJ, usually the naysayer, has it right this time in saying WKU is head and shoulders above the MAC and NIU. Take a look see:

WKU is a good program that was a lot better in past. Being the King of the Sun Belt today is not really that big of a deal. Not a big enough program to really boost NBA chances or play beyond the first weekend of the NCAA these days. IMO, just not a big pull that others have made it out to be.

RE: Latest on Jordan Threloff
WKU dominating in the Sun Belt isn't much different than Murray State had in the Ohio Valley (although the Sun Belt is better than the OVC). Sure, they win a lot and have the conference championship banners, but it isn't like winning a good mid-major conference even. If that is what you are looking for and traveling a farther distance away is worth that, then WKU might be a place to look at. I still think that if he is looking at everything, NIU has a pretty good package to sell him right now. The only thing they don't have is the recent history of success and are rebuilding and don't yet have the fan base built back up. Who are the other competitors who are close and offer the same things? ISU and Bradley may be better in some areas of the entire package, but NIU can give him more in terms of playing time and being a local hero as he helps build the program and fan base and a good education to boot. His other offers are far enough away that it would be hard for family and friends to travel to many games. Even ISU and Bradley are obviously quite a bit farther away!
