Future athletic budget small hole to fill?
DeKalb HS will play future football games in their own stadium when new school is finished in 2011.

DeKalb paid $375,000 to NIU to rent Huskie Stadium.

At least somebody will get to play weekend football in Huskie Stadium.

The Daily Chronicle article said they pay $375,000 over the course of 10 years. In actuality, they only paid $37,500 per year. I wouldn't be surprised if they still choose to keep the DeKalb-Sycamore game at HS. Their high school stadium will be too small to hold all those fans.

Think of it as less wear and tear on the new FieldTurf.

I believe that DHS only has to pay for the lights when using the stadium. However, NIU keeps the concession revenue.

$375,000 over ten years and five games a year to light a stadium would be an expensive electric bill.

They use the field on Thursday night also for practice. Visiting teams also have access to the field on Thursday nights. DeKalb also probably has to pay for the cleanups after the stadiums. I know when I went to school there DHS was only on the hook for the electric bill for their usage. Things might have changed. $37,500 a year is pretty cheap compared to running their own field. The field turf alone will cost them $800k to 1 mill every ten years or so.
