RE: What will the announced attendance be
5250 - 5300 But it will look and feel like a bona-fide sellout. I came up with this figure from the last time we had such a game in LR, when UALR played UNO for outright 1st place at Barton in 1996. There were more than 7000 there for that game. This is about 75% of that figure.
But I see there is a small chance that this thing goes primetime (if Steve sullivan and others talk it up) and they are forced to either turn people away, bring in extra chairs or allow a little SRO in the end zone concourses.
Then after tipoff, I say we let them sit in any unoccupied leather chair! And bring them a cold one!

Kids and parents get in free. If it's not SRO, we'll never get there.

RE: What will the announced attendance be
According to the box score, we had an announced attendance of 5380 at Alltel for the big SIU win in 04-05.
It's about time we load test the beams at the Jack with a real sellout. This is the perfect occasion.

Could be a sellout, but I doubt that. Sure won't be full. Many of those ghosts haven't shown up yet. Didn't d-1 say that the seats around him haven't been used all year, and that was after J.P. called him and asked if he wouldn't mind moving over one seat so one of the ghosts could add a seat to his package.

Hey, hey. Those ghosts paid a lot of money not to sit in those seats.

I didn't say they didn't pay good money for the seats. Simply said they don't appear very often if at all. And, they have paid well for the right not to appear if they don't want to. I appreciate those that buy the tickets. I just wish they'd give them to someone who would use them.

RE: What will the announced attendance be
My concern is the same reason why I (VERY regrettably) won't be able to attend the game, and that's because it's a Thursday. With school night/work I'm sure we won't seel out or be too packed. I hope like heck that I'm wrong, but I'd say we'd be more likely to see that if the game was on a Saturday.

If we don't sell out it is a travesty. I've heard every excuse and every argument for why we don't draw better. None works on this occasion. 1) "Just win baby"- We have our best record- probably ever- if you only look at DI games 2) Unattractive opponents- WKU went to the Sweet 16 last year, routed Louisville this year, and has one of the best basketball traditions in the country 3) "The Hogs are on TV and get all the attention"- they aren't on TV this week, no one but the diehards give a crap about them right now as they have the worst team in the 27 years I've lived in Little Rock 4) Poor facility or no oncampus arena- We now have the nicest small oncampus arena in the country that is easily accessible with plenty of parking 5) No local players- If Smith starts, we will start 4 Arkansans tomorrow and our 6th man is from Arkansas 6) No chance at postseason- A win tomorrow will just about guarantee we make it to postseason. 7) No media attention- the Sports Animals (Wally and Shawn) will be at the game and they have been talking it up on radio and TV. Hey, we're not talking about filling Alltel. After season tickets and comps, I doubt there are more then 3500 seats to sell (if that many). After typing this, I'm pretty convinced it will sellout- but I have a long history of overestimating our attendance, even when I try my hardest to be conservative in my estimates. I think all the tickets will be sold- but like LRTrojan said, there is no way to predict how many butts will be in the seats.

WALLY is actually talking about the Trojans??? What station is he on now and what time??? I gotta hear this! The only thing I ever saw him write that was UALR-related was Derek Fisher stories after he was drafted.
As for attendance, I really, truly hope you are right. But my experience has always been that despite all of the valid, airtight reasons you just gave, people just don't show up unless it's a conference championship or a ranked opponent is playing us (I remember when Xavier came to Barton ranked 25th in the country...that game was packed). Too many people are still *meh* when it comes to UALR. Most people I talk to (I drum up the Trojans every chance I get) like UALR ok and wish them well, but don't like them enough to show up to any games.
I HOPE I'M DEAD-WRONG, but I think the fact that it's on a Thursday will be the excuse most people have for not going (I don't get off work until 8, so much to my dismay I'll have to miss it).

Not sure your Thursday argument is valid. I certainly understand your point, and some people can't get there because of work. But I know a lot of married guys who have social obligations or feel they have to take their wives (who don't like sports) out on Saturday night, and find it a lot easier to go out with friends to a ball game on a week night. The reality is, it shouldn't make any difference. If the Chickenhawgs were playing a game this meaningful at 2 am on a week night it would sellout (and we're talking 20,000 not 5600). Obviously, I don't know what you do for a living, but I wonder if your boss would let you off at 7 if you were going to see Arkansas play Kentucky for the league championship.

I agree entirely. If we can't sell seats now, we can't at all. Ray Tucker made a good pitch on DTS tonight for the fans not just to be there, but to be involved. The last couple of days Ray has done a good job for us. I called in again tonight, and once again Mr. Razorback Rick was deadly silent.

I love Ray. He's always in there doing his best to give us some pub (LOVE his play by play too). Schaeffer's constant silence when all things Trojans are mentioned borders the bizarre.

I heard Ray really try to get a conversation started about the UALR/WKU game. He directed a comment or question directly to Randy about the UALR game and Randy responded with "Well the question is how is Fortson going to respond tonight". Really pissed me off.

Wow. I'm pretty shocked by that. All I had ever heard before was silence but that sounds like out and out disrespect. I'd expect that more from Schaeffer but Randy Rainwater said that? Wow.

It's just amazing that, knowing what those guys talk about, you guys listen and actually expect something different.

If what is being recounted is true, this would be a first. Silence is a lot different than active disrespect.
